Roasted Peking duck is an iconic dish of Beijing and can be traced back to as early as the Yuan dynasty when it was listed as one one of the main dishes on the imperial court menus. Come indulge in the theatrical dining experience where our expert chefs will carve this succulent dish at your table. Served in two stages. Firstly, it will be served with pancakes and then stir fried with peppers and onions served in lettuce wraps. Available on our fifth birthday menu and A La Carte menu. #HutongShard

Yes views from every side of London amazing and as for the food exceptional the waiter we had answered all our questions should we have another rice or noodles etc and first thing I noticed they ask about allergies before taking the order which was great!!! As we all shared our choices of food well done Hutong x

Some things could be improved more comfortable chairs and nicer looking menus if I was picky but I loved the experience pricey but 5 stars x

We went for Sunday lunch on the occasion of my wife’s 41st birthday. We were seated at a table for two which had an intimate cosy feel as well as a panoramic view of the Thames and the London Eye in the distance. The set menu is good value for money. The mains can be a bit spicy for some given its Sichuan base but it was heat that we could easily handle with a glass of Tsingtao beer (a bit pricey, also this is the only beer available). The four course lunch from the set menu is thoughtfully presented and is good value for money. The dimsums were easily the highlight of the meal. Cocktails are a bit on the expensive side but the view of London from the Shard on a glorious June afternoon comfortably compensates for it. We had a young gentleman from Barcelona serving us at our table and we found him extremely efficient, friendly, discreet and helpful. Overall a perfect place to celebrate a special intimate occasion !! PS. The people in the next table were having the dimsum platter and half roast duck, will love to try it the next time we go there.

User

Omg where do I start. Simply the best Chinese food I have ever had. From the starters to the dessert every single item was just mouth watering. We love seafood so we had most of the seafood dishes which were out of this world. If you like chinese food this place will be heaven for you. It is expensive but certainly worth every single penny. I can’t wait to come back. Irina our waitress was just amazing. So much better than the Aqua (sorry Aqua). Also, let’s not forget the amazing views of London. They were just spectacular.

User

I don't know where some of these poor reviews came from. We had the Truly Experiences Dim Sum lunch and I would give everything top marks all the way through. We arrived mega mega early but reception staff were not fazed one bit. We had a choice of going to the bar or straight to our table. And what a table! It felt like we were on the edge of the world with the most incredible views across London and down the river.

We had a selection of dumplings to share and they were light and fluffy and just sticky enough to assist with my ineptitude with chopsticks. One of the main course dishes was sticky beef, and bloody hell it was worth the journey just for that. So tender and tasty, we nearly came to blows over sharing the last pieces.

The service was super polite, super attentive, and they all took the time to explain what we were eating. Maybe a tad too fast, but I ain't complaining about that.

We had a couple of cocktails, which are eye wateringly expensive, but hell, they are not compulsory, its central London and a decent cocktail doesn't come out of a can or a pump. So what do you expect.

It's not a great place for kids, and as an empty nester, that's a positive thing.

In all a brilliant lunch, we just need to get them onto Just Eat so I can get a takeaway of that beef now.

I cannot Believe some of the comments made on this site!!

My wife and I went there yesterday for our 45th wedding anniversary and I can assure you that the front of house staff were excellent, Annalese was very welcoming, polite and professional

All members of staff were very attentive and knowledgeable, we were seated at a small table for two at the window with fabulous views, the quality the food and service was beyond excellent, we drank champagne and we chose the set lunch menu and ate Chinese food that we would’ve never normally have ordered and it was delightful, delicious and beautifully presented ending in a fabulous sweet with a slice of chocolate in it with the words ‘Happy Anniversary’ piped on, a lovely touch.

The whole experience was an Anniversary we will never forget. Thank you Hutong we will be back!

Had the set lunch today which was interesting as some of the choices I wouldn’t necessarily pick if given the choice.

Monkfish in lamb broth was a gentle infusion of flavours. The dumplings were superb with the delicate flavour flowing throughout. Perfectly cooked Pak Choi and the beef was lovely.

User

From the very start of our evening we were impressed with Hutong. There were 10 of us for a 60th Birthday celebration and we were in a semi private room, great views, still part of the restaurant for the atmosphere and an extremely helpful and attentive waiter. The food was incredible especially the duck, dumplings and tender beef and the wine was superb. A fantastic evening in a great venue, I can’t recommend Hutong highly enough.

User

Excellent food, brilliant young chef to carve our Peking duck, very vibrant dining atmosphere. I thought I was in my ancestors’ house in a village in China. I enjoyed totally my birthday celebration. Thank you

User

Absolutely loved it, myself and my husband visited for the first time in February, we had such a great time we’re going again next month. The staff were amazing very polite, attentive but not all over you and the food was outstanding!

User

Had a lovely birthday meal yesterday. Very impressed food good. Waitress very attentive and good. Would be five stars for food but drinks expensive .......... £11 for glass of Sauvignon blanc......and not a large one😢

User

Great food, but service for the price was not good enough. One the best places for Chinese in London but have to do the service that matches the price !

User

The location is excellent ,the place itself is ok , the price is a bit expensive , the food is typical Chinese food which is quite greasy and oily but it taste nice. It's nice to try and check it out but I wouldn't go back there again.

User

Reception a bit indifferent. Waiter didn’t know the menu. Other than that it is a sumptuous place with good food and views, but don’t forget the second mortgage you’ll need when the bill arrives!

User

Poorly trained staff gave inconsistent info on GF options. Quality of food mixed - some very good (Grouper in chilli broth and lamb ribs) some poor (undercooked / greasy rice). None of food hot and some portions very meagre

User

Just spent £2000 in this restaurant and the staff are so arrogant. Would not recommend this place. Prrrruueeerrrrr rhaaaaaappppah

User

The Shard is a beautiful setting. We have now dined in all three restaurants but I can honestly say it was a disappointment. The food was really nothing special. One of our main dishes was forgotten and did not come until we was half way through our mains, and we had to ask for it twice. The food lacked flavour, if you want to eat in the shard avoid Hutong and go to the Oblix.

User

The Service was very poor! No recommendations given by the nature of the Portion served. If you want to order Duck as main course for 3 People oder the whole Duck! If you follow card recommendation, you’ll end up ordering 1/2 and be hungry. Consequently you’ll order another half which you end up paying more than ordering a whole duck in the first place 🙄!

I was so annoyed but at least our Waiter was super friendly and always kept his cool! Very professional 👍🏻

I must say the location is cool though. And that must be the delema. They don’t need to make an effort!

Well for us, “been there - done that!” No coming back.

User

very poor customer service, no manners and definitely not a place for families if you have children under 18.

We had a table booked for lunch and we arrived 5 min early. We were asked to wait at the bar only to be told we couldn’t order neither alcholic or not -alcholic drinks because we had the chidren with us.

We had to escort the children out. The bar stuff was unable to help and the manager didn’t have a solution either. We ended up waiting for 20 mins for our table and was overall quite unpleasant.

Food was ok but for the price you pay you would at least expect a better reception and to be treated like a customer.

They just seemed really annoyed by the children presence so maybe it should be stated clearly when they receive a booking about their policies.

User

Well before to come your restaurant, I had a lot of expectation from hutong because I heard a lot, when we entered we felt hostess was rude, it’s all right we ignored , now I came on food starters & drink was ok, in main course fried chicken fillet their high salt, & in chef pickle fried rice their no pickle taste, I can say this all thing because my husband is a head chef ( parminder singh ) of Indian accent restaurant in London, at least I know the taste of food, texture of dish, but where I highly disappointed I have booked a table 2 months ago why because of yesterday was our wedding anniversary and we got a table in a middle, i specially mention in our mail I need a table window side why I booked table 2 months ago it was a special day for us, i am encouraging your service staff is very good rather than other things, last year we celebrated our anniversary in aqua shard and it was really good experience their sorry to say we were not happy yesterday
