Ilford Town Centre

About Ilford Town Centre

Ilford town centre is a popular retail shopping destination for people living in and around the area and offers over 1. 5 million square feet of shopping space.

Ilford Town Centre Description

Ilford is located 9. 1 miles northeast of Charing Cross and is one of the major metropolitan centres identified in the London Plan. It forms a significant commercial and retail centre surrounded by extensive residential development. Ilford was historically a small rural settlement in the county of Essex and its strategic position on the River Roding and the London to Colchester road caused it to develop as a coaching town.

The arrival of the railway in 1839 eventually accelerated that growth and as part of the suburban growth of London in the 20th century, Ilford significantly expanded and increased in population, becoming a municipal borough in 1926 and has formed part of Greater London since 1965.

London Borough of Redbridge want to know what you think about the market event that takes place on the High Road.

I've lived in Ilford, right in the heart of the town centre and love this booming and active town buoyant in this downward economy.

What you notice first in Ilford is how populous it is. No lack of people, no sedate solitary roads. People in Ilford jostle to get to work, to market, to the Exchange town centre passing the majestic town hall built with the most tender of

Buttermilk colour stone.

Ilford is a great place of worship with churches, temples and the jewel in its crown the Gurdwara resplendent in its red brick building with fabulous intricate carvings.

If you want peace from the hustle and bustle wander a few minutes away from Cranbrook road into the beautiful Valentines Park with the exquisite Valentines Mansion home of local arts and crafts. Wildlife galore from the park pond and boat lake.

Whilst Ilford hasnt got the affluency and poshness of Hampstead, it holds its own in diversity, and young people in nurseries, schools and colleges. They are our future!

Nice place, have been there almost 3 years.Great neighbours, lovely shopping and communication is tough though but overall for asian, its good!

User

It is getting a lot smarter and tidier, probably because of all the flash appartments that have shot up there. The Exchange is a pretty good mall, there is a Cineworld cinema and restaurants. All it is lacking is some green, but I guess you cant have everything.

User

Lived there not very special place kind of crowdy the type of crowd i dnt really like.....

Im from 3 years in ilford its like my back city I love it. The people of ilford r so good.i visit some cities of uk but ilford is ilford again I love it I'll never forget it...

User

Has gone down hill...lots of empty shops and cheap washed out garments on sale just about more then a ┬Ż shop. ┬Ż5 for bargains also struggling to sell...not really sure the authority controlling this business area knows what they are doing...all the best shops have gone and especially since Westfield...new ventures and young business and mature new business need to have opportunity to set up shop here...something exciting can make a change to get people to shop in Ilford again. This was the place to be back in the day.... At the moment it is dry and appears to be struggling for new customers to come to ILford. The shops are too expensive to rent and business people already struggling to make ends meet. When the government encourages new business to start...come off the benefits...jobseekers ....stand on your own two feet my friend....there are empty buildings....empty shops premises is not included to help start....anyway Ilford really looks.like its struggling in retail....and needs help takeover...get businesses off the ground and saving the establish family ones from sinking..if no customer no money but rents have to be paid..bless you and have a great day people.

Urban Chocolatier.

Visiting Ilford.

After a less-than-good dinner, I wanted a single expresso cafe and a good dessert.

I went into your store. I've never seen a bad tau service. I ordered a coffee and a Tiramissu. The coffee took about thirty minutes. Tiramissu arrived fifteen minutes later.

I wanted to order another coffee and the clerk asked to wait, so that the colleague would come "to take the request".

I confess that I gave up.

With so much waiting time, I almost forgot that Tiramissu was really good.

What a mess my God

Town Center is a big miss what am talking about its the some going for the Shopping Center the Center/high Street need better stores that people what put HMV back update a few things around the center what will make it look nicer the only thing that keeping ILFORD going is the cineworld other then that I would use ILFORD this not much down her what letting the High Street down big time what a shame that things got the way it has down her

User

Not like it used to be. It's Very run down now really hard to park. Too many cheap shops.

User

Ilford town centre is out of date, very poor, looks totally run down, and tatty will try my best not to go there again, stick with Romford, Westfield, lakeside, & bulewater.

User

I'm horrified that Ilford Town Centre is using live animals as entertainment. Neither penguins nor reindeer belong in a crowded centre with lots of noise and movement. They'll be terrified. What the heck do penguins have to do with Christmas anyway? Please stop these cruel displays immediately. I certainly won't go near Ilford again unless you do and I'll be informing everyone I know of your indifference to animal suffering.

User

I think the place is a shot hole and everywhere around you have people begging. I hope I never see the place again
