African Championship in Cairo, April 2019 This happened to be one of the most successful trips we have ever been on, it was a great event for us not only because of the results but because of the beautiful club and the beautiful people who invited us to be with them and showed us the utmost friendship and courtesy that could possibly be offered . The first event of the week, The Presidents Cup, John Lucy, on his first trip away with the GB Helice Team, took a Gold Medal in th...e Senior category and also shot off for the overall total title and came away with a Bronze as well . Jane Bell won a Gold Medal, Chris Potter won a Silver Medal and John Nightingale a Bronze Medal . The next day was the Grand Prix of Egypt , Fergus Watson- Hopkinson, on his first trip away with us, took a Gold Medal in the Seniors category, Cliff Goodwin won a Bronze in the Senior category, Jane Bell won a Bronze, in the Veterans Howard Batt won Gold, in the Masters Chris Potter won Gold and Cyril Adams won Silver . In the main event The African Championship was shot over two days. Dionne Rogers won Silver, Andy Stratford won Gold in Seniors Howard Batt took Gold in the Veterans, Chris Potter Gold in the Masters with Cyril Adams taking the silver . The Beretta Cup is awarded for the culmination of scores over the three events : the results are as follows . Ladies – Dionne Rogers – Silver Senior – Fergus Watson- Hopkins – Gold, Andy Stratford – Bronze Veteran – Howard Batt – Gold Master – Chris Potter – Gold, Cyril Adams – Silver The last event of an exhausting week was the Team Shoot . Ladies Team; Dionne Rogers, Jane Bell and Michele Conway won Gold after a shoot-off with the Italians . Men’s Open Team; Tim Rickard, Phil Negus and Stuart King won Bronze . Seniors Team; Cliff Goodwin, Andy Stratford and Steve Cole won Silver. Veterans Team; Chris Potter, Howard Batt and John Nightingale won Silver . All in all a massive haul of medals and trophies, we are very proud of ourselves and are hoping that this puts us in good stead for the European Championships in Sicily in June . A medal really aught to go to our International Helice Referee Steve Cole for his marvellous umpiring skills, a job very well done Steve. Congratulations to Chris Potter (GBR) for the 3 Gold and 2 Silver medals at the Helice African Championship 2019 - Master division! 🥇🥇🥇🥈🥈
