Happy Fathers Day Did you know that in Catholic Europe this has been celebrated on 19th March (St Joseph's Day) since the Middle Ages. Though in the UK and many other countries we celebrate on the 3rd Sunday in June. Which ever day you chose to use, I hope you enjoy today!

Here at the IPTI Office we have had constant rain for the past 24 hours. I know that some places have been affected quite badly over the last few days. Warnings have been issued for those travelling as the roads have become very dangerous in some areas, so please drive carefully and be safe.
Just off to Wales this weekend. I've never been so it should be interesting. I have been persuaded to do my PADI Deep Dive training. Going to be diving to up to 40 meters in a deep, dark, cold lake at the National Diving & Activity Centre. I hope they have heated the water to 30 degrees! If we have time we may try the big Zip Line or the Giant Swing!
What brilliant news that the supermarkets are realising that many people don't want single use packaging. Here in Retford we have a shop dedicated to Zerowaste shopping. It has only just opened and as well as stocking food stuff (pasta, flour, oats, cereal, herbs to name a few), it is also selling cleaning products (washing up liquid, clothes detergent, body and hand wash etc).
A few years ago I took part in a Big Knit coffee morning for AgeUK. It was great fun - making tiny hats which fit on the Innocent Smoothie Bottles. I have a bag of left over wool so I can make a few for them this week. There are loads of patterns on the internet, but here are a few if anyone out there wants to take part.
After National Vegetarian Week I am still trying to have a few meat free days every week. For this Meat Free Monday I have made a luscious spinach, roast pepper and feta filo tart. (If anyone wants the recipe I can send you the link) I think I've over catered and it looks like it is going to last all week!

Please wish me fine weather for this evening. As a joint birthday outing with Richard my SCUBA Instructor, he has booked our club to go gliding this evening. I have elected to watch from with bar with a large gin and birthday cake!
We all look forward to the summer. Hopefully we will get some lovely weather so we can get out and about and enjoy ourselves. The Also Festival is an outdoor festival in the heart of the Midlands encompassing a variety of talks, music, activities, food, relaxation, well-being classes, and many more other fun things to do.
The Chesterfield Canal and Retford were featured on BBC Countryfile last Sunday (it can be seen again on BBC iPlayer). This weekend you can enjoy a 1 hour round trip with Seth Ellis Boat Trips starting at 11am from the Gate Inn Clarborough.
