The team from the Church Road Bridge scheme gave a talk to the pupils at Banks Road School in Speke, Liverpool. The school has been affected by the road closure we needed to carry out the works. Together with Joel Farrell from Network Rail, Project Manager Jamie Skillin and Graduate Engineer Leirah Nakamaanya gave a presentation explaining why these works are essential and how we want to work with the local community to minimise any disruption as much as possible. The pupils also got to hear about life as a Graduate Engineer and some important rail safety. The presentation generated a lot of excitement and questions and a visit to site for the pupils is being planned for the summer.

Excellence in Safety and Sustainability
A big congratulations to the NWEP Phase 3 project for receiving not one but two ‘safety and sustainable delivery’ awards for the re-use of redundant flagstones. The flagstones, which were removed as part of the major remodelling of Kirkham Station, were donated to the Yorkshire Dales National Park Authority and have been used in 5 locations across the Yorkshire Dales to repair around 300m of public rights of way. The winning project was... chosen by the Client, Network Rail and their supply chain. The flagstones provide a sustainable surface for walkers and at the same time protect the fragile moorland vegetation which is important habitat for ground nesting birds.
Murphy’s site manager, Mark Rittenberg, said: “We wanted to do something with the left over stone from Kirkham that would mean it wasn’t wasted and would also benefit the wider community. We got in touch with the team at the Yorkshire Dales National Park because we knew they would be able to put the stone to good use!.”

Murphy is actively helping women across the industry to deal with sanitary issues by trialling women's convenience packs.
Reaching 37 sites in the UK and Ireland, Murphy is excited to uncover the long-term successes of this initiative and what it can mean for the wider industry to create change. The pack includes items a woman might need to deal with an emergency and carry on working, feeling secure and in control. For more information visit our innovation entry at https://www.i3p.org.uk/

For the local indigenous communities in Canada, the Surerus Murphy Joint Venture (SMJV) team held a blessing ceremony to pay their respects.
As the North Montney Mainline Project runs through the sacred Peace Moberly Tract, it was culturally important to show gratitude prior to clearing trees for the project. https://www.surerus-murphy.com/

Can anyone guess what this is? Last week, Network Rail and the Murphy team at Great Ducie Street visited Barr & Grosvenor Ltd who specialise in casting iron.
These are the first floral swags that will replace cast iron elements to bring the Grade II listed structure back to its former glory.

Would like to thank the mindless person who parked their vehicles on the Kingsbury road Minworth / castle vale yesterday while they worked on the above rail bridge/ line, 3 vehicles were needed to obstruct the public path which is on the school route to Minworth school, by doing this I had to take a child with special needs into the very busy dual carriageway to get around these mindless workers, before risking my life I looked for any work force to ask if they could kindly move just one van? But alas none could be found, but did find van with both doors wide open and keys in the ignition just waiting to be taken for a joy ride, have a good look at these pictures as they may be published in the media, would like a reply!

It's a shame the staff of murphys feel the need to stand around swearing and spitting and making fun of passers by. Also it's a shame that if you send them a message , you only get an automated response instead of a human... Typical corporate .... Not the actions of a family business
