Since their formation in 1996 Partisans have been thrilling audiences with their ferociously energetic performances.
Hailed as breaking the ground for the new wave of British jazz and described by BBC Radio Jazz on 3 as 'One of the most exciting all star experimental groups in Jazz today' Partisans is co-led by two of the pre-eminent musicians of their generation, Phil Robson (guitar) and Julian Siegel (tenor sax & bass clarinet).
The quartet's line-up is completed by Thadd...eus Kelly (bass) and Gene Calderazzo (drums). The richly lyrical and strongly melodic compositions written by the leaders provide the framework and starting point, underpinned by the rock solid, freewheeling and supercharged rhythm section.

Comprised of long-time musical associates in uber-creative drummer Tim Giles and the highly original bassist Dave Manington, Tori Freestone has been developing her own repertoire which explores the openness that the saxophone trio allows while taking inspiration from some of the non-chordal sax led trios of the moment and at the same time drawing on her folk influences. This group dynamic has culminated into a program of music that has been developing over the last few years.

Fresh from the Maceo Parker ‘School of Funk’, Dennis Rollins joins an elite lineage of trombone players responsible for changing its perceptions.
From The Brand New Heavies, Jamiroquai, Courtney Pine, to Maceo Parker and PeeWee Ellis, Rollins has lent his ‘bone skills to an array of jazz, funk and groove personalities.
Here, Rollins presents ‘FUNKY-FUNK!’ an electrifying, hard hitting 6-piece outfit delivering fat angular bass-lines and sumptuous horn melodies.

Trumpet player, composer and producer Byron Wallen is coming to The Crypt heading the line-up of his dazzling 'Four Corners' band.
His international adventures into straight-ahead and world jazz have taken his name and music afar. For Byron's fourth album, Meeting Ground (2007), featuring Gnawa master musician Boujemma Boubul, he received nominations for Best Band a...nd Best Album in the 2007 BBC Jazz Awards and Best Jazz Act in the 2007 MOBO Awards. He has played alongside legendary musicians such as Andrew Hill, Mulatu Astatke, George Benson, Jack Dejohnette and King Sunny Ade, and is one of the creators of the Game of Thrones' series soundtrack.
The other members of the group, percussionist Rod Youngs and bass player Paul Michael regularly play with the brightest jazz stars. While the young guitarist Rob Luft is already today being compared to legends such as John McLaughlin, Al Di Meola and Paco De Lucia.

Our monthly Jam takes a new twist this time with guests from Saxony joining in. The Youth Jazz Orchestra of Saxony under the care of the Saxon Music Council is a bigband that brings together highly talented young musicians from all over Saxony. Some are still pupils, others students at the local music conservatoires in Dresden and Leipzig. We are delighted to have these fine musicians join our established house band for what promises to be a great jam session.
