About Juju'S Bar & Stage

Juju's Bar & Stage is a multicultural arts space and mezcaleria located at the Old Truman Brewery in the heart of Brick Lane.

Juju'S Bar & Stage Description

Hidden behind an unassuming glass porch on a whitewashed brick wall at the back of Ely's Yard is one of Truman’s best kept secrets: Juju's Bar & Stage. This beautiful old cavernous warehouse space has hosted everything from secret gigs and exhibitions to film shoots, immersive theatre productions, dance performances and, of course, some exceptionally riotous parties…

Serving coffee (@wifi), craft beer and cocktails, the venue is a popular meeting place for local professionals during the day. It is also used communally by local artists as an open rehearsal space and hosts a regular schedule of in-house events, including live music, comedy, play readings, dance, spoken word, capoeira classes, workshops and more. . .

In addition to the main space, Juju's outdoor ‚ÄėPalm Tree Bar‚Äô offers a spacious area for warm summer evenings, with live jazz every Thursday, while a cosy little beer garden round the back offers some outdoor privacy during the daytime too.

Juju's is currently on the hunt for fresh events so if you are an events organiser or arts collective with an original idea that you think is a cut above the rest, please get in touch, we'd love to hear from you. Send your proposal to: juliet@trumanbrewery.com

Juju's is proud to be hosting a week of events in celebration of London Mezcal Week!
Agave is arguably Mexico's most important plant. It has been used for millennia in food, drink, and textiles. Subject to ancient myths and legends, agave is even depicted framing the Virgin de Guadalupe in Catholic iconography. However, the main use of this amazing plant is in the production of mezcal.
Connoisseurship of mezcal has brought Oaxaca into the spotlight as the 'heart of mezcal' ...country. Made infamous by Lowry's Under the Volcano, mezcal is both fuel and subject for many local artists and Oaxaca continues to host a thriving creative community. Some of Mexico's most prestigious artists came from this region, such as Rufino Tamayo and Manuel Alvarez Bravo, while others have pilgrimaged there from around the world, including Frida Kahlo, Leanora Carrington, Cartier Bresson and DH Lawrence.
This event launches an exhibition of graphic prints and photography showcasing Oaxaca, the heartland of mezcal production. There will also be presentations about traditional and contemporary art in Oaxaca and the relationship this has to modern day and historical production. The event will be the opening of a six-week show curated by Anna Bruce featuring a wealth of exciting artists from Mexico.
As well as Juju's usual menu, there will also be a range of bespoke mezcal cocktails from Oaxaca based mixologist Brooks Bailey (@brooks_alcoholic_remedies)
Join us in this celebration of all things Mezcal!

About Lagos:
Lagos is a city always on the move. Having experienced unprecedented growth in recent years, an estimated 600,000 new people arrive each year from across West Africa and beyond. If you want a job, the chances are you’ll have to invent it yourself. Informal stalls selling soccer jerseys, mangoes, and iPhone cables sprout between its buildings like plants growing in the cracks of a rock.
Charity Partner: Street Child
The charity works in some of the world’s poorest countries, including regions recently beset by major natural or medical crises, like Sierra Leone, Liberia, Nigeria, and Nepal. Street Child’s projects are designed to help ensure that children who are out of school are able to sustainably access their right to a seat in the classroom.
