About Kernow Health

Kernow Health - a Community Interest Company enabling GP practices to become shareholders & to work together for patients & communities in Cornwall.

Kernow Health Description

Kernow Health is a Community Interest Company which was founded in 2011 to create the Referral Management Service (RMS) for practices in mid and west Cornwall. The RMS helps patients choose how they access services in hospitals and other places of secondary care. It supports high quality referrals and is a successful model which has since been replicated in other areas of the UK. Now that the RMS is established, it has been taken over by Kernow Commissioning and is no longer associated with Kernow Health.

This has enabled a change of purpose for Kernow Health which is now enabling all GP practices in Cornwall to become shareholders and to work together to support the provision of high quality health services to the population of Cornwall as close as possible to patients’ local communities.

As a CIC, Kernow Health is a non-profit making organisation which will re-invest any surplus income into local healthcare provision.
