Why did I get into hairdressing
As a little girl I loved the smell of hair salons and also thought it looked like a glamours job.
When in high school I applied to Toni and guy to do my careers week. I loved it so much and knew from that moment on that definitely what I wanted to do.
... Leaving school at 16 I managed to get a apprenticeship in a big salon locally. It had a bit of a rocky start as I had applied for a few hair salon jobs and was told a starting date for my new job then that morning my mum had taken a phone call saying I didn’t need to go in that day. Arriving the next day at the new job and they were like what happened to you yesterday. I said my mum had taken a call saying I wasn’t needed that day. A few months later when I started my day release at college there was another girl named Karen, turns out she worked at one of the other salons I had went for a interview at and they had mistakenly called me instead of her. 😂🙈 I’m lucky my new boss was understanding of the whole situation and kept me on 😊
Hairdressing to me is not just a job it’s a lifestyle choice I don’t just offer services I offer confidence and a listening ear.
