Happy sunny Sunday! I'm spending the morning sketching out bespoke floral installations for a fabulous wedding in July. And as usual drinking far too much coffee! Photo credit Amanda Karen Photography

Part 6 #MarchMeetTheMaker It's the second day of spring and I love to take every opportunity to work outside. I think I mentioned how lucky I am to have a beautiful outside space to work in... this is my floral studio! I have a separate flower shed where I keep all the vases, tools and props. It's so important for me to be super organised so I know where everything is, it can turn out like a messy treasure cave if not! Huge thank you to Amanda Karen Photography for capturing a day in the life of me!

Part 4 #MarchMeetTheMaker Taking care of your wedding or event flowers is one of the most important jobs of a florist. I make sure I personally collect the flowers from the market at least 3 days before the wedding to ensure they are at their optimum bloom...not too much, not too little, just right. They have conditioned and cared for with the right water, temperature, light and lots of love. The essential recipe for all our flowers. Huge thank you to Amanda Karen Photography for capturing a day in the life of me!

Part 3 #MarchMeetTheMaker I love using lilac in my spring arrangements! With their tall woody stems, heart shaped leaves and clusters of highly fragrant flowers, for me, they are the true meaning of spring. They also take me back to my childhood home in the north of England...we had a lilac tree in the back garden that I used to climb and pick the blossom as a gift for my mam. Little did I know back then that I would (quite some years later) still be picking lilac and arranging this time for events, weddings and parties! Thank you to Amanda Karen Photography for not only capturing a day in the life of me but for taking me down memory lane, it's only when you start writing this that you realise/remember where the original love comes from!

Part 2 #MarchMeetTheMaker After spending a fabulous morning at New Covent Garden Market, Amanda and I headed back to my home studio to condition the flowers and get them back in water asap. One of the first things I do after unloading the van is to get the kettle on. You will probably notice that in most of the images from a day in the life of me, I have a cup of hot coffee by my side, it helps with the 4am starts! I said yesterday that I love this time of year, one of the main reasons is in the good(ish) weather I'm lucky to have a beautiful outside space where I can work. The garden is full of budding flowers, tweeting birds and frogs, the perfect setting to start working on these amazing flowers... A HUGE thank you to Amanda Karen Photography for capturing a day in the life of me so perfectly!

Jumping onto the (very late) #marchmeetthemaker bandwagon! So, my name is Em and I'm a florist/designer/creator. I love working on new designs, I'm currently working on a huge instillation and I can't tell you how much that excites me, and also scares me a little! I love being outside, this time of year fills me full of hope (and more excitement!) that Spring is on it's way! Here I'm at one of my favourite places in the world, New Covent Garden Market at the awesome @dennisedwardsflowersltd I will be sharing more from this fabulous floral story over the next few weeks. Huge thank you to Amanda Karen Photography for capturing a day in the life of me! If you have any questions or would like to know anything more about me, just drop me a message!

Last week the amazing Amanda Karen Photography came to visit my floral studio in South East London. We drink lots of coffee (that was me!) and Amanda Hutchinson took lots of pictures of my space, the flowers and me. I can't wait to share more with you next week but for now, I wanted to share one of my favourites with you. I'm always so happy arranging flowers and you captured this perfectly, thank you Amanda xx
