**SWIMMER OF THE MONTH!** Our swimmer of the month is Frankie! Because that’s what she is now… a swimmer!
Frankie has a sensory processing disorder so when she first started swimming lessons she would keep her face as far away from the water as she could and struggled with swimming on her back. Water was overwhelming which makes bath/ shower time a nightmare never mind swimming in a large body of water!
... However Frankie has put in a lot of work, built a fantastic relationship with her swim teacher Anna, and with this trust she now tries EVERYTHING Anna has asked her to do! She got her chin on the water with bubbles which had evolved into eyes in with bubbles. She can now swim all the way across with her face in and is starting to develop a beautiful front crawl, backstroke and breaststroke technique! She is even asking Anna if she can try new things like sitting on the bottom of the pool! Frankie is a wonderful student who is always making Anna laugh, especially when she splashes Anna when swimming!
Frankie’s mum has commented that ‘she is amazed at Frankie’s progress and so happy she is enjoying the water! She has a fantastic relationship with Anna who has taken the time to get to know her on a personal level to the point Frankie doesn’t want to swim with anyone else. Her new found confidence is great for holidays as she can have fun, be safe and enjoys swimming. Anna is a great mix between firm and fun which is ideal for Frankie, something just works with them which is great to see!’
Well done Frankie! And keep up the amazing swimming! You've done us all proud!🏆

Well I never have a problem, both my kids have lessons here and are both doing very well. I did attend the gym for a short while however only used it 3 times in 6 months due to work/kids schedules so alas didn't get to see much. School holidays are made easier by the staff putting on a days entertainment which I think is a fantastic price for a full day.

Some people have great experiences and some not so, take a review with an open mind, I am very happy

User

My daughter (7) has been having swimming lessons here for the last couple months. With her ASD and sensory issues it can be quite challenging but Anna her swim teacher (and teachers in the pool) are just amazing with her. Frankie is slowly but surely putting her face closer into the water each time and becoming more confident....She also enjoys wetting her teacher through when kicking her legs big thumbs up from me and Frankie

User

I used to come here last year but I couldn't come as I was packing for a move now I'm returned to this gym as the gym were I live in don't do the gp refal no more they used to but they havnt had the funds to cover it so now I have to come to this one every Wednesday for 12wks but the staff are really lovely and helpful so that's why I'm giving this gym 5 ✨

User

I love the Lammas centre I started swimming lessons at end of January and I really enjoy learning every one is lovely

User

I just want to say I am yet to use the gym I have only joined today, but 5* on customer service I had a phone call at the beginning of the week with information about joining, the lady wasn’t pushy she never asked if I wanted to join. I then went today to join and again fantastic customer service. Can’t wait to start using the centre tomorrow.

User

I have had some trouble with the centre in the past but the lammas dealt with the situation. This centre really has improved by alot. I love to come ice skating and like to put my idea's forward to make the centre better. I requested for a session where we can go as fast as we want, the centre has listened to my suggestion and today was the first session of it and it was a huge success(the session is on 5 till 6 Saturday). Lammas do there best to keep their customers happy, the staff are really helpful and like to have a laugh with you. Im really pleased with the centre for the effort they have put into making my experience at the centre amazing. Well done to all the staff at lammas

User

I go to aqua aerobics Mondays and Thursdays and it's fantastic, the lifeguards are brilliant and the staff on reception are very sociable and friendly. Since coming to aqua my confidence has grown and I feel happy when I get out of the pool!! Thankyou Lammas ☺️☺️

Having a little girl who was ready to move groups but found it very daunting has been difficult as a Mum. Watching from poolside as she has worried and cried has been heartbreaking however her swim teacher, Tracy Devlin, has been amazing! She’s listened, tried many ways to encourage and help Amelia overcome her fears and even added an extra swim teacher to some of her sessions. I’m so grateful to you both for your time and understanding. Many, many thanks xx

User

We use the ice skating rink. My son loves it there. Reasonably priced. The one downside was there were a few teenage boys there who were skating really fast round the rink. There were a lot of very young children and it looked quite scary! Maybe split it up into age groups? Other than that we really enjoyed it.

User

Had our little ones 2nd birthday party here on 6th August. Great value for money and hassle free if you have their food as there is no cleaning up, would definitely recommend. All the children had a great time. There was even a disco on in the food room. The food was really nice and the room decorated for you. The bouncy castle is huge. Children from a few months old up to 10 years old all enjoyed themselves. Thank you to all the staff.

User

Why why why do some people who use Lammas leisure centre, park in the few disabled bays that there are when they clearly have no disability or a blue badge, they are just ignorant, As a disabled person who attends Lammas all the time with my young granddaughter (who is an ice skater), and I can't hardly walk I find it very difficult and tiring to get to the ice rink, especially if I can't park in the designated blue badge parking and have to park at the back of the building.

So come on people show a little respect and leave the space clear for people who need them!

User

The only thing i dont agree with is when you get the advanced skaters doing spins and jumps in front of you while your trying to do something. And on a public sesion.I thought that's what artistic or practice ice was for.not to be done a public session.its bad enough having a leason one one. Also the ones that wear hockey boots flying around like idiots.Ive been skating at the old rink where i did all my levels and now ive come back after a break ive lost my confidence so this really dosnt help. While im on the subject i think that they could do with a shop and someone who can sharpen blades like nottingham have. Its stupid how you have a rink but no facilities to buy anything and to have your skates sharpened. You have to trapes to Nottingham its a joke!.

User

I just want to ask how many parents that have children on swimming lessons have been told about there children going under water??? I’ve been told that they have noticed my child spending far too much time under water, so now we’ve got to try and keep a 3 year old that loves the water above the water!!! Yes I’ve a bit of a problem with one person but this has been resovlved but now I’ve been told because I’ve had recent issues then this is why I got confronted. Just don’t think it’s right I think if this is the case then all parents should be told. Sorry for ranting on but this has been bothering me.

User

Took my granddaughter today didn’t like it at all,my granddaughter isn’t very confident on the ice asked if we could have a skating aid to be told she was to tall, her height was very slightly over wrecked our day won’t be going back

User

Came to the 7-8pm swimming session with my husband last night only to find that when you leave the pool the staff had locked all the changing cubicles and the group ones were being used by the children's swimming club. If your happy to charge people to use the pool at that time then you should at least make sure your staff don't clean up and lock all the doors before the end of the session. I mentioned it to reception and her reply was "oh yes we know, it's because they clean up".

User

It's a shame they don't have a 0x . My children came to be assessed for swimming classes today. Apparently the swimming teacher assessing my eldest (Kath) didn't have the courtesy to explain why even though my daughter outperformed the rest of the class she couldn't be in the same level she's been in at meadow waters just because they had taught her a different breathing technique. They were rude, unhelpful and not very kind to a young girl who didn't understand why she had to go back to a pool with a load of kids that couldn't swim. We only tried here because our trainer at water meadows had left. We'll be going back to watermeadows and if anyone had any sense they'd do the same. Swimming should be taught in a fun, open, motivating environment. Not by some woman on a pathetic power trip. I won't be back.

I have been visiting the Lammas gym for a while now but find the temperature in there is unbearable at the moment.

As you are all aware the temperature outside has been 25 degrees over the last month I have spoken to the Manager and He has informed me that he has had a problem with the airconditioning since March 2017 it hasn't worked !!

We are now in June !!!

Completely unacceptable I'm paying for a service that I cannot use due to the unbearable temperature inside the gym.

As a compromise I have asked to freeze my membership until the issues are resolved. They informed me that I would still be charged a fee of £5 .00 pcm .Why should I pay for something that I can't physically use . I am paying for a service that is not fit for purpose.

My second comprise to the Manager was to cancel my membership with Imediate effect and was advised that it would take two months for my membership to cancel.

Thinking of joining lammas leisure centre gym don't bother think again.

I am truly gutted to find myself in this position the Manager and the staff are fantastic so helpful and friendly but what can they do ????

User

Had so many problems with booking swimming classes here for my 3 children. Firstly when my second child moved up from the baby class she was booked into the next class up at a similar time on the same day. All fine for 3 weeks until all of a sudden she wasn’t booked in that class and according to reception never had been despite her being on the register for the last 3 weeks. It wasn’t the end of term or anything . This class was now fully booked and she couldn’t go in. She’s 3 so was understandably couldn’t understand why she wasn’t allowed in and had to sit through her siblings classes instead. So I managed to get her booked into an early class on the same day, I asked for her class to go on direct debit as the class places for this time was in high demand. so if I forget term dates she wouldn’t loose her place. New term comes round and her sisters class has reenrolled on direct debit but hers hasn’t so she’s lost her space!! Rang reception to try and sort it out, nothing they can do!! So now I have the choice of her sitting at the side screaming because she doesn’t get to go swimming all of a sudden but her siblings do or not taking any of them, them all missing out and paying for a term of classes that we are not attending!!!

User

Getting ridiculous now. Unable to use any of the gym facilities due to no air conditioning, yet you continue to take our premium membership fees.

Do you not have a legal duty of care to provide safe and sanitary conditions, or are you exempt? Does a legal maximum SAFE temperature for gym and spin rooms not exist, or is it acceptable to undertake these activities in what is akin to a sauna ? You deep cleaned the spin room once... yet left no blue roll for people to clean up after themselves, so it was filthy again straight away. I took my concerns up with a duty manager. Her response? " You choose to come here ." Verbatim.
