Mains Smoke Alarm £78 inc vat
Since 1992 building regulations have required that at least one smoke alarm, wired directly to the mains, is installed in every new property. These are obviously powered from mains electricity and to prevent problems with loss of power have a battery backup, with the top end of the market including ten year plus rechargeable lithium cells, which provide of 6 months' cover in the event of mains failure. These lithium cells also don't work in other appliances so these are unlikely to be removed by tenant.
