About Lavender Bakehouse & Coffee Shop

This great building with its tremendous charm has, and still is being lovingly refurbished to offer a place to relax and take some time out to enjoy the charm of the Chalford area.

Upstairs we have a large area where we will stock some gift ideas and an area where there is an opportunity to show some local arts and crafts. We will also have baby changing facilities and will try and accommodate any special requests that you may have.

Come and join us for breakfast or grab a cappuccino and croissant to take with you. We will be serving a wide selection of home baked cakes, morning goods and patisserie along with a selection of breakfast items with a light lunch menu & freshly prepared soups and a selection of artisan and locally produced breads. Alternatively you can buy some freshly baked croissants and take them home for a lazy start to the weekend.

Wi-Fi for those wishing to connect to the internet we will also be getting a Wi-Fi connection to surf the net whilst enjoying a break from the office.

As the seasons progress, and the weather is kind to the crops we will stock a range of jams, preserves etc which will be made on the premises using locally grown fruit and vegetables wherever possible.

Outside will have tables and chairs so when the weather is warmer you can relax and enjoy the British weather, let’s hope it’s soon! We will also have adequate parking marked out to take the stress out of trying to find somewhere
to leave the car.

We also sell a range of locally produced deli items such as locally produced cheese, meats and of course a selection of olives etc. - but you tell us what you would like to see in the shop.

User

What a fantastic place, it's so refreshing to find somewhere with great food and fantastic service. I think the Grannies herbal Tea is the best I've ever had

User

We drove past on Wednesday and liked the look of it so went back for a drink and a snack..be warned....there is no such thing as a snack here. The portions are huge and so delicious that you just keep going....

I had homemade houmous, bread and salads....roasted pepper, potato and mustard, cucumber and mint etc. Fabulous.

The cakes looked great too but i was too full

Lovely place and staff and will go back next time we are in the Cotswolds.

User

Visited yesterday for afternoon tea with a very special friend we were treated with great hospitality coupled with excellent food and service we will both be back for another visit very soon

User

Today - my friends and I walked from Stroud along the towpath and decided we had walked enough and came across the Lavender Bakehouse - and thought - let's give that a go! Well - we had a lovely lunch and still had room for cake! thank you for looking after us so well - from the five laughing ladies on table 15/16

User

This place is a gem... Light...Bright, very friendly staff, great food....love it, and they welcome behaved dogs too.

User

The staff were so polite, friendly and quick to serve even with a busy cafe! This is popular for a very good reason and the selection of teas, cakes, crafts and homewares makes this a place to visit often!

User

Thank you. We had a wonderful afternoon tea on Friday which was a very belated birthday present for one of us. The sandwiches, cakes, scones & in fact everything placed before us was lovely. Thank you for arranging alternatives too for someone who did'nt eat cream! I would recommend you to anyone & everyone, and I'll be back. Thanks again.

User

Such a lovely place.

Everyone is so friendly and helpful and the cakes are amazing. Thank you. Will definitely visit again soon.

User

My new favourite place! Amazing cakes and coffee, and a fantastic celebration breakfast too. First class service and a fab little gift shop upstairs.

User

Me and my wife took a random countryside drive from Bristol out to Tetbury then into stroud and then stopped here on the way back home. Lovely pot of tea accompanied with a scone and carrot cake. Will definitely return when I'm passing again.

User

I visited here today. We booked afternoon tea in advance. Wow the best I've ever had! There was a group of 6 of us and a newborn. We were doing a surprise baby shower. The staff were very patient with us all arriving and everything was perfect. The savoury was just as good as the sweet selection. Loved the savoury scones! The setting is so lovely too, lots of pretty items around for sale also. Would highly recommend.

User

How lovely xxx

Very warm welcome and fabulous food. Had a great time at a Baby Shower here and it was amazing. Sandwiches were delicious and lots of variety. Cakes were lovely...scones, macarons, meringue and chocolate. Really felt spoilt. Would recommend heartily for a party or just a quick coffee. Will be back very soon.

User

Great value for money. Had the goats cheese sourdough baguette with salad. The salad wasn't just green leaves like some coffee shops serve, was a mixed salad with sweet potatoes and seeds drizzled with oil. Would definitely recommend it to friends.

User

Food is lovely, fresh and home cooked, great value and a lovely place to eat

User

Fabulous, attentive and wonderful afternoon tea. They catered to all of our quirky dietary requirements without batting an eyelid! Highly recommend 😊😊😊

User

Fabulous little place. Food was great as was the service. Will certainly be going back. Love the fact you can take dogs too! Had the pleasure of meeting 12 week old Lab pup. so had cuddles and breakfast! xx

User

User

Been here on several occasions

.. love it. Amazing food and amazing cakes. Really great atmosphere.

Travel all the way from Swindon just for lunch.

Very popular would highly recommend booking a table

User

A retreat from our Worlds far away problems, Chalford's pearl in dreams of festive Spring dances and Summer ripened pastures. Where afternoon tea enlivens the soul, taunting taste buds back into action and quenching old thirsts with simplistic ease. If delight meets a barrage of calamities past, this is the portal of Utopia, a place to recoup the inner self. Thank you, we shall return!

User

A great place for breakfast, lunch or tea and cake. Today we hadn't booked but turned up just after midday and were lucky to get a table. They were still offering breakfast so my husband had the Eggs Benedict followed by fruit and marzipan cake. Our friend and I tried two different pies with a salad selection. Everything was so fresh and tasty! Great service too, thanks!

User

We found this gem quite by accident yesterday sadly they were near closing time but we shared the nicest cheese scone I've ever had with our drink. The shop upstairs was also excellent 😃

User

Very good, friendly service. Delicious cakes, including gluten free. An interesting shop with mainly children's toys, some home bits and pieces, cards etc.

User

Lovely place for a tasty lunch, coffee or tea with the most delicious cakes. Tried the bubble and squeak potato cakes with poached eggs this time - very tasty.

Always good for an end stop for a walk along the old canal- friendly staff and the bonus of a bit of shopping upstairs!!

User

Loved the bubble & sqeak, & the gluten free lavender & orange cake was delicious.

User

First time at The Lavender Bakehouse but it wont be my last! I loved the whole vibe of the place and the cakes ......... to die for! As I have to eat wheat and dairy free I wasnt very hopeful that I could get a cake, always take something in case! But I was very pleasantly surprised. They had a gorgeous moist Orange Polenta cake - very generous slice. I wasnt sure I could finish it, but I managed. My friend had a hot chocolate that looked great too. Looking forward to my next visit

User

Delicious food and drink in a lovely setting, with shopping opportunities all around you - what's not to like?!

User

Atmosphere was good, everything was nice food wise, would of been nice if there had been a choice with the sandwiches as I don't eat anything with mayo. Would recommend to friends.

User

As usual , a tasty and accommodating experience.

On this occasion, I would say that the hollandaise sauce on my eggs benedict was a little too mustardy for my taste .

User

Heard a lot about this place which in my opinion was ok,,,one of the young waitress girls was very disinterested and made this clear. The coffee was good and we didn't try the food and overall I was not that impressed,,,star anise arts cafe has a better vibe and I don't know I feel the lavender bakehouse is oversold.

User

So disapointing despite hearing so many great reports..we caught it on a bad day....the manger clearly needs some further training in customer service...

User

Ordered pot of tea for two came out with loose leaves wish I'd been warned because I don't like loose tea. Ended up with weak tea. Waitress was too efficient more concerned with sitting us down and getting an order out of us than telling us about the food and drink on offer. And if waitresses are going to wear leggings they should make sure they have a top that covers their bottom. Won't be coming here again or recommending it, used to be a charming relaxed cafe, now it's going down the pan with an over efficient bossy Waitress running it like a restaurant.
