Blood Pressure 👨🏼‍⚕️
Blood pressure consists of two factors systolic pressure, the higher number which is the force at which your heart pumps blood around the body and diastolic pressure, the lower number which is the resistance to the blood flow in the blood vessels.
These are both measured in millimetres of mercury (mmHg).
... As a general guide:
• High blood pressure is considered to be 140/90 mmHg or higher
• Ideal blood pressure would be between 90/60mmHg and 120/80mmHg
• Low blood pressure would be 90/60 mmHg or lower.
If your blood pressure is too high you put yourself at risk of heart disease, heart attack’s, strokes, kidney disease and vascular dementia, to name a few.
High blood pressure can be caused by being overweight, having a relative with high blood pressure, smoking, not getting enough sleep, not doing enough exercise etc.
We can improve this by cutting back in salt and eating a healthy diet, cutting back on alcohol, losing weight, exercising, cutting gown on caffeine, stopping smoking and trying to get at least 6 hours of sleep a night.

Blood Glucose 🍰💉
Blood glucose literally refers to the amount of glucose found in your blood. This comes from what you eat and drink as well as the stores of glucose that sit within the liver and the muscles.
For people without diabetes blood glucose levels stay relatively stable as the body is able to produce insulin to regulate them.
... Those with diabetes will find it fluctuates a lot and are more susceptible to either very high blood glucose levels or very low blood glucose levels.
High blood sugar levels can be caused by many things such as stress, illness, eating too much and lack of exercise.
To reduce your blood sugar levels try to avoid foods that cause your blood sugar level to rise such as cakes and sugary drinks, drink plenty of sugar free fluids and exercise more often.

Blood Cholesterol 💉
Cholesterol is a fatty substance known as a lipid which is vital for the normal functioning of the human body. It’s mainly made by the liver however, can also be found in some foods.
There are two types of lipoprotein in the body which is the mixture of protein and cholesterol, these are:
... High-density Lipoprotein (HDL) - carries cholesterol away from the cells and back to the liver where it’s broken down and passed through the body as waste. Otherwise known as good cholesterol that we want more of.
Low-density Lipoprotein (LDL) - carries cholesterol to the cells but too much cholesterol can cause build up in the artery walls leading to certain diseases. This is why it’s known as bad cholesterol.
High cholesterol can increase the risk of atherosclerosis, heart attacks and strokes as the build up in artery walls restricts blood flow to vital organs.
You can improve your cholesterol by maintaining a healthy balanced diet which is low in saturated fat. Other lifestyle changes such as quitting smoking and taking part in regular exercise will also help to lower your cholesterol.

VO2 MAX 💨
This is the measurement of the maximum amount of oxygen a person can utilise during intense exercise.
This is a common measurement used to establish the aerobic endurance of an athlete prior to training.
... To improve your VO2 max as a fitness beginner is fairly simple. Completing sustained aerobic exercise such as running, rowing or cycling can help to increase this level. However, as someone who’s fitter this can become a little difficult and will require you to complete high intensity exercise such as HIIT or Fartlek Training.

💪🏼 MOTIVATION 💪🏼
By having a gym membership often the financial commitment helps most to ensure that they continually attend the facility.
However, for some it can take a little more persuading. Gyms have many different ways of keeping you on track with your fitness, from class timetables, newsletters and regular social media updates to remind you that you need to get up and move!🚶🏽‍♂️🏃🏻‍♀️
