Our Universal Racer Mk2 in Vegetable tanned Cow leather worn by Romano Brida, founder of Bullfrog Modern Electric Barber, this leather has an incredible patina and though heavy it’s very wearable.

Zippers have been a very important component in motorcycle jackets since the 1920’s and many of you may have spotted that ‘Lightning Fastener’ zippers have featured on Lewis jackets old and new. Here is a document which recently came our way, an early promotional booklet for the Lightning Fastener company which gives some insight into the then, new zipper.

15 years ago we found an old LL catalogue on eBay with its original mailing envelope, a photo of it features in our wonderful book https://is.gd/AS0SPl -and a few months ago we were contacted by its original recipient Philip Hendricks. Philip duly ordered a Sportsman jacket and contacted us to ask if we would be happy for a part exchange and we agreed, his new Dominator arrived last March and here are the photos to prove it:

We were in Tokyo last week and had the pleasure of seeing Bryan and Julian from The Thurs, Seiji main man of Guitar Wolf and Jack, owner of 原宿ジャックス　（Harajuku Jack's） one of Tokyo’s best stores. That’s Tsune of Lewis Leathers Tokyo at bottom left.

The jacket below was bought second hand in 1938 from Eric Thompson, future secretary of the VMCC, it was then sold to its third owner who used it for racing Brough Superior SS100’s and was finally hung up after an injury and there it remained until last week. We were fortunate to be contacted by its third owner and now the jacket takes pride of place tim the Lewis Leathers archive. Made of horsehide it is a very nicely tailored jacket known as the Warmwear.
