We love to hear from our friends and encourage you to post your thoughts and feelings about the LSO, our concerts, events, CDs, tours, musicians, staff and other related things on our page. Ask us a question, we'll try and answer it (as long as it's not about the meaning of life or advanced quantum physics)!
But if you want to post about your own page or advertise something that's not related to the LSO at all, then we're really sorry, but we don't allow this and will remove your post. We wish everyone luck with their own concerts and musical groups, but our page isn't really the best place to advertise them.
And if you're a spammer or your comment is libellous or offensive to individuals within the LSO, your post will be removed and you will be banned, with no questions asked!
Happy posting everyone, and thanks for being around. You make Facebook a great place to be!

'Shostakovich was a genius, a pure and true genius.' See what else Gianandrea Noseda had to say about the Russian's Fifth Symphony, written under brutal Stalinist regime. The first of a new album cycle on LSO Live, Shostakovich: Symphony No. 5 is now available on Apple Music: geni.us/shos5
This week we have begun our new partnership with Music Academy of the West in Santa Barbara. Dave, Neil, Rebecca, Andrew and David are spending 10 days coaching the young musicians and performing chamber recitals, while former Assistant Conductor Elim Chan and Conductor Laureate Michael Tilson Thomas lead orchestral sessions.
In the winter we're inviting some of the Academy Fellows over to London to work with the LSO – Santa Barbara in summer vs London in winter... 🤣☀️🌧️
Here are a few photos of life at the Academy.

Last chance to apply for our Soundhub and Jerwood Composer+ schemes today! Jasmin Kent Rodgman, current Jerwood Composer+, has written an account of her first year on the scheme:
"As a cross-genre composer, the thing that drew me in about LSO Jerwood Composer+ was not only the creative potential (cue blue sky thinking!), the entrepreneurial experience or the generous support from the LSO, but the opportunity to curate work and present it in a creative way."

Really proud of the young musicians of Orchestre des Jeunes de la Méditerranée! It has been an honour to be involved in coaching them again this year.

A few of us are making our annual trip to Festival d'Aix-en-Provence to coach the Mediterranean Youth Orchestra. Over the next couple of weeks Joost, Maxine, David, Jonathan, Hilary, Paul, Robert, Jani and Matt will be taking sectionals and full rehearsals, working towards a big performance at the end.
It's hot, it's sunny, France are in the World Cup Final and every day there's the joy of making music with young enthusiastic talented musicians... PERFECT! 😎
We had a brilliant day in Trafalgar Square on 1 July at our annual #BMWClassics concert. Here's what happened.

Interactive, creative, and fun – our Monday morning music sessions for early years are a great way to introduce your little ones to the world of music making.
You and your little ones are invited to move and groove along, explore new sounds and songs, and get up close to the instruments of the orchestra.

Our tribute to the great Oliver Knussen, composer and conductor, who died on 8 July: https://lso.co.uk/…/993-obituary-oliver -knussen-1952-2018.h…
On the eve of Leonard Bernstein's 100th birthday, this special event will re-run our 1973 performance of Mahler 2 in Ely Cathedral... as a film screened in Ely Cathedral! Includes an introduction with Bernstein's biographer Humphrey Burton, who has ALLLL the stories...
Very sad to hear this news today. The Knussen family, so closely tied to the history of the LSO are in our thoughts. A longer tribute will follow on our website. https://www.theguardian.com/…/oliver-kn ussen-dies-aged-66-c…

This is by far an interesting band. For a person my age it's rare to find someone listening to Orchestra, but the London Symphony Orchestra makes it possible by breaking social boundaries preventing harmony in music. Sir Simon Rattle, lm just loss of words
The best orchestra in the world I had the privilege to work with… Soon our album will be published by a great label. Greetings
Son una maravilla en el arte Musical.
Our first visit, and went to the Family Concert: Dreams of Air & Flight. Great introduction for our girls to the joy of an orchestra. Especially liked that pieces were introduced with some context added. We've been to a few English National Ballet's "My First Ballet" and they are similarly narrated. Excellent.
Not only a top-notch orchestra, but a great group of people. Their music outreach programs are a wonderful asset around London, and to the places they visit on tour. I attended many powerful concerts that I will never forget, and made lifelong friends because of, and through, the orchestra. The LSO will always be near and dear to my heart.
Mágicas sus interpretaciones y selección de bellas obras.Adelante.
Most incredible experience of my life what a phenomenal orchestra.
Me encanta el buen gusto de sus escogencias musicales en conciertos para instrumentos, sinfonías, suites, etc. Lo Mejor. Saludos.
London Symphony Orchestra is Britain's Top Orchestra was playing Antonín Dvorák, Ludwig van Beethoven, Gustav Mahler, Johaness Brahms, Ralph Vaughan-Williams and Dmitry Shostakovich, thinks about Classical and Orchestral music that has more Powerful than Providence.
I've often thought our players were as good as it gets, anywhere in the world. The LSO is more than ample proof of this, performing and recording the widest range of repertoire and playing it brilliantly, not just classical music. You guys just rock!
Beautiful music and I could listen to it anytime day or night.
An extraordinary and powerful performance of Mahler 2. I’ll remember this concert for a very long time.
A very funny yet laid back and disciplined group which knows how to deliver to an audience and always posts brilliant videos. Simon is lucky :) ;) :-D
14 January, 2018. Undoubtedly the finest performance of Berg's Violin Concerto I've ever heard - and I've heard a few. Isabelle Faust, Simon Rattle and a wonderfully fired-up LSO.
.. miracles nowadays still happen, but we have to find first, the recipe of the magic potion.
and it so simple, when we are listening to your music..
Congratulations for your miraculous page.
