IT’S CHRISTMAS DAY! FANCY A SWIM?

No, we haven't had too much eggnog. Members of the Serpentine Swimming Club are once again preparing to swim their traditional 100-yard (91-metre) Christmas Day race in London's Hyde Park!
... The race has been a Christmas morning tradition since 1864. Novelist J.M. Barrie donated the first Peter Pan Cup in 1904, the same year that his play, Peter Pan, made its debut on the London stage.
The race is not open to just anyone however - only members of the Serpentine Swimming Club who have prequalified throughout the year.

Seasonal Fact: "Jingle Bells" was written for... Thanksgiving?
The classic holiday tune song was written in 1857 by James Lord Pierpont and published under the title “One Horse Open Sleigh.”
It was supposed to be played in the composer’s Sunday school class during the American Thanksgiving as a way to commemorate the famed Medford sleigh races.
... As to where "Jingle Bells" was written... well that's another mystery!
