Ooph - it’s almost the Winter Solstice and Christmas. It feels like there’s a little magic in the air and there’s a yearning for cocooning time to be inside and have time to knit and stitch and cook nice food to share around a table. Just for everything to slow down just a little. There’s some more little naturally dyed yarn cakes by @mette_mehlsen in the shop now. They look so pretty they give pleasure just by looking at them all stacked up. #theseareafewofmyfavoritethings #christmaspreparations #anticipation #natural #threads #stitching #surroundyourselfwithbeauty #quiet #wintersolstice #family #giftgiving #colour #crochet #botanical #knitting #knitlife #looplondon #gatherings #thishandmadelife #family #lifeinaknittingshop

‘Shy Girl’ colour rush. (and Nathalie Lete notebook from years ago... ) Surrounding myself with colour as the days creep shorter and darker towards Winter Solstice next Friday. This is Madeline Tosh Merino Light - Shy Girl also came in Pashmina in yesterday’s big kahuna of a delivery and that’s super beautiful too. Happy weekend!

Dreamy Twirl ditto in ether. ‘ether’ is Mary’s whimsical blend of fibre from her farm in California but this ditto has some Angora rabbit fur (ethically combed on the farm!) spun into it along with the merino, blue faced Leicester and Kid Mohair. Light as a feather and soft soft. Each yarn cake from Twirl Yarn is handled from fleece to skein with the utmost loving care.

Melted Baby Suri Alpaca, Hand-Dyed here in London by Layla of Qing Fibre in Oyster, Punjabi and Cherry Hill. Next Friday we’ll have a one skein free beanie pattern for you using this dreamy yarn as a little Christmas gift back to you. Ooph- it’s getting cold here in London - remember we are open until 7:30 tonight (but no Knit Night) and I think a very huge delivery from Madeline Tosh is arriving today too!

Life in the Long Grass. Coffee cake has been baked for our last knit night of 2019 tonight. A little extra treat for gathering and, if you’re anywhere nearby, we hope you can join us. Something truly special arrived in the shop yesterday - our first Irish yarn! Hand-dyed on their ‘Fine Sock’ base, just in time for cosy toes this Winter, we love their colour palette with hints of the natural countryside around them. Images will be up on our website in the next couple of da...ys. Big skeins of the precious Hampshire 4 Ply from The Little Grey Sheep have arrived at Loop! Precious because of all the love and attention ruin that goes into making each and every skein. From raising the sheep to hand-dyeing the wool, every step of the process is overseen and cared for by Emma and her family + team. We’ve stocked the mini skeins for awhile (next delivery of those should arrive this week!) and we’re chuffed to have these 60g hanks that are perfect on their own or to use as a main colour base in cahoots with the minis for colourwork. Reared, shorn, spun and hand-dyed in Hampshire, England. http://www.loopknittingshop.com/…/The-L ittle-Grey-Sheep---H…

Wonderful small yarn shop with very kind staff! The greatest yarns I ever saw, bought 2 Madelinetosh light merino for knitting a souvenir cowl for myself. Was in London as a tourist and very glad to ask Google for a woll shop near to my hotel! I surely will return, when I'll be in London again!

User

Wonderful shop, friendly staff and fantastic stock. Very hard to choose!

User

Visited twice last week as was visiting London as my husband was on a course! Beautiful shop with a gorgeous range of different yarns.

User

Visited here while attending a conference in London, and had an evening by myself. Lovely friendly staff very knowledgeable about their products and they stock yarns I would normally have to buy online without a squish. Even joined in the knit & natter upstairs and fell in love with the Tokyo shawl that everyone seemed to have knit (at least one!) Made good progress on my Tokyo on the train home.

If you are in London it is well worth a trip on the tube to visit this lovely store, and make sure you have spends. You will walk out with a special skein (or project) you have just fallen in love with. Thank you ladies <3

User

This is just about my favourite yarn shop in London (possibly in the UK!). They stock the most gorgeous yarns. Their haberdashery is amazing and stocked with gorgeous buttons and shawl pins and the like. The staff are all incredible: well informed and warm and welcoming. They are always willing to go that extra mile to help you find something suitable but amazing. When ordering online they keep you informed and let you know if dye lots will differ etc. They host classes which are incredible. It is my woolly haven and I love it.

User

Loop is wonderful! The colours and range of yarns, books and accessories blow me away. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable, the service if I order online or by phone is impeccable and the goods delivered swiftly and carefully packed. I come to London just to go to Loop and then travel home on the train gloating over my purchases. Thank you all. X

User

I've always shopped at Loop when visiting London but made a special effort to purchase something today as you are donating funds to the ACLU. I'm so impressed & grateful when not just individuals but businesses too make a stand & resist.

I went there on sunday, and it was such a fantastic afternoon. Very lovely staff, Laura was very helpful with winding the yarn into cakes. She got a lot of help from Mary Ann from the states. I love how all knitters from all over the world are such happy and friendly people when they meet for the first time. Shame i have to get a plane ride next time i wanna go there. Beatrice from Germany

I visited loop (for the first time) on a recent holiday. Staff were welcoming and approachable, the wool, haberdashery, samples (and everything else I saw) was top-notch. I will definitely visit again on my next trip across the pond, and probably order online before then :) Thank you loop!

User

I visit there last June! It's an amazing shop yarn. I love it all: yarn, books, gifts and so on...I brought a fantastic blue colour of the uncommon thread. Congratulations. I hope I can return.

User

I seriously love Loop! I spend way too much time on your website, mentally spending thousands of pounds. Made my second order yesterday morning, arrived in Cornwall today. Great service! Cannot wait to start my new knitting projects, thank you.

User

I made an online order at 2.49pm yesterday and it arrived at 10.44am this morning - I live in Orkney so found it incredible to have my gorgeous parcel arrive so quickly - thank you Loop and thank you Royal Mail. Oh, and by the way the Isager yarn is absolutely gorgeous and the package was beautifully presented - couldn’t be happier!!!

User

I love this shop, I've not had the pleasure to visit in person but I really want to. Their website draws me in everytime - they have some more unusual yarn brands I find! :)

User

I love shopping at Loop! The amazing choice of yarns over two floors (huge even for London!), the awesome and helpful staff and the cutest building ever make it my favourite yarn shop ever.

And I am really proud of them for making a stand on this politically difficult times.

User

Great selection of wool and patterns, everything you could wish for and more. Staff were very knowledgable and extremely helpful in advising me on the yarn and patters I was interested in. Lots of lovely quirky shops in the area too not to mention cool coffee shops. Well worth a trip.

User

For me the best yarn shop in London. I go across the river to get there and I am never disappointed. The staff are helpful, knowledgeable and kind. I love going there but only once the bills are paid!!

User

Favorite yarn shop in London! Love it all..the yarn, the books, the helpful staff, and lots of other goodies..and lucky for me not far from where our daughter lives and I always find time to stop by in my travels to build up my stash!

User

At a time when the beautiful regional yarn shops are struggling, closing down over the last few years in Manchester and Birmingham, for example, it's a relief to find one that is still alive and knitting. Loop has a marvellous array of yarns, including ones from the US that I haven't seen anywhere else, and pattern support via a generous holding of books as well as individual patterns. The setting is serene and pretty, they supply all sorts of bits and pieces that the knitter needs - it's a perfect knitting shop.

User

A mythical space full of knitting treasures. Kind and knowledgable staff full of enthusiasm for your ideas. Gifts for your knitting friends. Beautifully curated and designed space. You want to stay all day!
