About Lot'S Ait
John’s Boat Works is the traditional wooden boat builders, based at the recently restored, historic boatyard at Lots Ait, on the Thames in Brentford, London. We provide a wide range of boatbuilding, repair, restoration and maintenance services to boat owners on the Thames and the Grand Union Canal in the London area.
The boatyard has tidal dry dock facilities, a fully operational slipway, outdoor hard standing area for DIY projects and winter storage and a fully equipped large indoor workshop. We have a wood machine shop on site and also a small chandlery able to supply fixtures and fittings at favourable prices.
John’s Boat works also has a few workshop units /‘pods’ available for short or longer term rent. These are suitable for DIY projects or small business start up. Each pod is equipped with power, workbench, secure storage and space for your own boatbuilding, repair or restoration project and includes access to community toilet and shower facilities, technical library, mess area and free Wi-Fi.
All our users will benefit from a fantastic environment, friendly advice and assistance from our experienced on site boat builders, and the camaraderie of fellow boat enthusiasts.
