Love Chalkhill Festival

About Love Chalkhill Festival

Love Chalkhill Festival is an event dedicated to the residents of Chalkhill Estate in order to embrace cultural diversity and promote community cohesion.

Love Chalkhill Festival Description

The Chalkhill estate in northwest London underwent a huge regeneration programme which included the redesign of a grassed area into a multi-use community park. Chalkhill Park officially opened in June 2013. Since then an event has been organised every year to commemorate the re-opening of the park and make use of this facility, aimed at bringing members of the community together, celebrating the diversity and richness of Chalkhill.

The event in July 2015 attracted over 700 local people who enjoyed free performances, health and fitness advice, employment and training opportunities and fun activities for all ages. Feedback indicates it was a well-organised and enjoyable day, and there is enthusiasm for further events on a larger scale to maximize the park as a community asset.

On the back of the continued success and interest with support from Brent Council, the Chalkhill Community Trust and Metropolitan, plans for a bigger event in the summer of 2017 are underway. We are seeking to attract to the event residents from the entire ward of Barnhill as well as neighboring wards. The number of people in this target area is about 15, 000.
