Have you seen these critters in the group study room on level 4 of the Library? Their provenance is a mystery, and we've no idea about their intentions. That said, they seem to have been warmly embraced by LSE students...

In April 1972, the first issue of Sappho magazine was published. It aimed to "educate society about the true facts of lesbianism, support lesbians and women's causes." You can consult original copies in our collections:

Please be courteous and refrain from using Post-it notes to mark our books. No one wants to stumble upon a monstrosity like this...
Thank you 🙏

"LSE, as part of the University of London, was in the vanguard of the great army of men and women across the world who responded to the call to isolate the apartheid regime. They insisted that human rights are the rights of all people everywhere." Nelson Mandela spoke at LSE #OTD in 2000.

Did you know that #OTD in 1722, Peter the Great, the Tsar of Russia, ended a tax on men with beards? These LSE students from the 1970s would have been happy! 🧔

The Library will be open 24/7 over Easter for LSE staff and students! 🥚🐣🐇

It might just be a hunch, but something tells us there's interview going on in here...

Best wishes to our dear friend Sonia, who retires today after nearly 23 years here at LSE Library.
Thank you Sonia from all your LSE friends. x

Lawyer. Revolutionary. Political Prisoner. World leader. Elder statesman. Symbol of the struggle against oppression. Human rights icon. Globally recognised advocate for change. Nelson Mandela: The Official Exhibition, celebrates his life and legacy at 26 Leake Street (entrance on Addington Street SE1 7NN).
In a world where injustice and inequalities are still rife, this exhibition provokes its audience with difficult questions and a call to action.
The organisers have sent us a code for student discounts www.mandelaexhibition.com: code UNI0800 #MandelaOfficialExhibition

#OTD in 1976, Apple Inc. was formed by Steve Jobs, Steve Wozniak and Ronald Wayne in Cupertino, California, USA. Here's a picture of HRH Princess Anne at The London School of Economics and Political Science - LSE waiting for her turn to play Space Invaders on the Macintosh SE in '86... 🕹

#OTD in 1983, tens of thousands of demonstrators formed a human chain stretching 14 miles from Greenham Common to Burghfield to protest against nuclear weapons. Find out about this, and much more besides, in our current exhibition:

User

I live here. This is my troll cave, where memes are made.

It's impressive but too noisy to study inside!

User

Potentially a great place to educate oneself as the books and journal collections are fantastic. Unfortunately however, the LSE library does not live up to its potential because the high level of noise from construction works outside makes it difficult to concentrate in most "silent zone" areas. Moreover, the power sockets on many tables do not work. So even if you have found a silent place to study, you are often left with no battery after two hours and have to start searching for a new table again. Writing essays and preparing for exams here has been very stressful compared to my experience with other university libraries. Please improve this facility for future generations of students!

User

It's very large and spacious but so noisy. Basically impossible to work unless you have noise cancelling headphones or earplugs. LSE should get somewhere else for students to hang out.

User

Noisy as fuck.
