To gin or not to gin? Silly question...a classic drink with a twist - add some rosemary to garnish and voilà - you've just created Tina's favourite. How do you like your gin?

User

Gin-lovers, assemble! Time to be a hero and rescue some gin trapped in a bottle. Because everyone knows the best tonic has a large gin in it!

User

The first pub that has felt like "home" for me in a very long time. Amazing staff with a very friendly atmosphere - pubs don't get better than this. (Warning: it's not cheap, but it's far better than the competition)

User

Staff were welcoming and friendly, Sunday dinner was very good value for money.

Nice size and layout of pub with TV screens everywhere so we could watch the sport but volume was quiet enough that we could hear each other talk.

User

Staff was very friendly and we enjoyed the food.Excellent place for drinking and eat for a fair price

User

Spent most of last night there.....dissapointed that there was no fish but had a lovely burger. Lovely girl from Liecester served us most times, very helpful and polite, nothing to much trouble.....another kindly rang a cab for us as the weather was dismal. Put the football on for our men

Def be going back on a return trip to London....lovely cosy atmosphere. Good food, nice wine n real ale for the men.

Friendly staff and good value food. Definitely a good pit stop

User

Excellent beer, goid food, friendly service and a great atmosphere. Irish, English and French all in the same pub just great.

Only thing wrong England lost - oh well there is always next time!

User

Drink are expensive, so not the place for drinking on a budget. However, bar staff and regulars are fun and lively and will endevour to make you feel right at home.

User

Bar staff are great, pub nice and friendly, great food. Watch out for thieves, keep eye on bags, rucksacks, coats etc, don't take your eye off them for a split second or they will be gone. No reflection on pub or staff they are great, just take note from someone who thought they kept an eye on their belongings but obviously not well enough. Looking online one of many pubs in area targeted regularly but that's because nice honest people go in there to eat and drink!!!

User

The staff were very friendly and it was a good atmosphere to watch the football. The only disappointing thing was, the choice for food was poor as they had run out and delivery was today

User

Super little find. Friendly staff,,good ale and a cracking steak pie. Well done.

User

Stumbled across this little bar when looking for somewhere to have lunch before catching our train home. Being World Cup month, every bar on Euston Road was jam packed with noisy football fans. Whilst the footie was on in this pub, it was unobtrusive and we could still have a conversation. Waited 45 minutes for our sandwich - there was quite a big family party in just before us who had all ordered meals - and when it came, hubby couldn't remember whether or not it was what he had ordered ! Was a lovely, fresh club sandwich washed down with a refreshing glass of cider. Reasonably priced for London. Only downside was getting a bit of a shower from the glass washer, I presume - we were at the table next to the gents. Would gladly go back when next in London.

User

Staff were friendly. It was busy so could only get small table to eat at. We had a Sunday roast & it was very good. It was piping hot & plenty of fresh veg to go with our roast chicken. I would recommend it but get there early for a good table.

User

Out on a pub crawl with friends and found this pub which I had not been in before. As soon as we got to the bar the staff had a welcoming smile and quickly supplied our drinks. Next round we did not have to ask as they said same again? Very pleasant pub well attended. Will be going back again as soon as time permits

User

Nice pub , good location (for kings cross) and beer/lager good. Quite busy most of the time.

It is a bit pricey but well worth a visit.

User

Nice local place. Quick service. True English pub. Not busy around 4pm. Near by Kings cross station.

User

Lovely little pub. Perfect if you are killing time before catching a train from Euston or Kings Cross

User

User

User

Been going there for years. It's a decent pub and quite close to Euston and KX stations

We went to Mabel's on the off-chance, as we had had a successful meeting nearby and fancied celebrating and unwinding with a late lunch. First the positives. A smallish and well-decorated pub with a good range of beers but, since we stuck to coffee, I can't comment on the quality; but I'm sure it's fine! I ordered sirloin steak and my partner, sausage and mash and the food was good, the portions were more generous than customary in many "gastro pubs", but I thought it was a little pricey. My partner thought the sausage a little "sweet" for her taste (I had a bite and it was fine by me!) and there was cheese mixed with the mash which hadn't been mentioned and, I think, should have been.

Problems arose when I made the order. The menu stated "steak and chips" with a list of standard sides but when I spoke to the barman he asked somewhat cryptically, "With onion rings, without onion rings or as it comes?" Since the first two options were the only possible onion ring alternatives I was curious as to what "as it comes" could possibly mean. I was told that "as it comes" meant that sometimes the steak was served with chips but with mash if there were no chips; information which seemed to have nothing to do with onion rings. I explained that, for me at least, mash with steak was not acceptable and I wanted chips and, if chips were not available, I would want to order something else. The alternative then seemed to be, if there was no chips I could have onion rings instead which, as I pointed out, was not a sensible alternative. Were chips in fact available? He attempted to phone the kitchen but received no reply so someone went to check and came back with the good news that there were indeed chips! Obviously, though, the barman's first question was of little utility and without further explanation would leave the customer to wonder exactly what they'd be getting on their plate. In the event I received my chips but no onion rings which were stated as standard on the menu. This was all rather confusing and Mabel's would do well to brief the staff better and make sure they communicate with the customer in such a way as doesn't beg more questions than answers. The barman himself seemed either oblivious or unbothered by the subsequent confusion and it left me feeling somewhat irritated but also amused.

Service was also slow and after waiting more than half an hour I went to see if we'd been forgotten. I was told that they had a lot of orders although there were few customers in evidence and, after checking, that our meals would be ready in 2 to 3 minutes which they were. Whilst delivering our meal the barman asked if there was anything else we wanted and my partner asked for some bread which arrived quickly, but my water with ice failed to appear at all. Having finished the meal and nipped to the toilet (toilet facilities are all easily accessible) I mentioned at the bar the water hadn't arrived but I assured him it was no longer wanted as I had finished my meal. Obviously the request had been forgotten.

So to sum up, good food, a little pricey, iffy and rather confused service. With better service I would have awarded Mabel's 4 stars.

We had planned to go there for our dinner. When we got there we were told no food as they had a big buffet on. I'm not joking about 10 ppl were there for it. An hour later they put food back on. Service was rude but I guess it is a pub. Food was actually quite nice but attitude of staff completely let the place down.

User

Being from the US, this was a nice “authentic” tavern that we stumbled across. The duck appetizer was painfully small but the cod fish and chips were a good size and very tasty. There were some soccer (football) games on the TVs that the locals were enjoying and overall we had a good time- the staff was very friendly.
