This course will teach you how to use the Generative Shape Design tools. You will learn how to create wireframes and surfaces. You will also learn about the concept of hybrid design and how to use it while creating wireframes and surfaces. This course covers only those Generative Shape Design tools that are available with a MD2 license.

This 5 day Dassault Systèmes accredited course is the first course in the CATIA V5 curriculum and is the starting point for many CATIA V5 Learning Paths. After this course, the student will be able to understand and use the many of the most commonly used CATIA V5 functions. The student will understand the interface and philosophy of CATIA V5, how to create geometry from sketch profiles and subsequently dress-up this geometry. There will be an overview of some advanced CATIA functions before building an assembly from existing components with the final session covering the creation and annotation of 2D Drawings.

University of Stuttgart: Institute for Thermal Turbomachinery and Machinery Laboratory. The institute came to us with a specific requirement of data translation and migration. They had possession of an old test rig (def) dating back to 1960; this test rig is a closed loop axial compressor test rig, used to investigate different compressor designs with both air and freon. Built in Switzerland, the test rig resided at the EPFL until it was passed on to University of Stuttgart. ...The test rig has been modified extensively by PhD students over the years, but between 1999 and 2000 one of its last PhD students digitised all technical drawings using an old HP system and I-DEAS. The institute now wants to use the major parts of the old test rig to build a new version to investigate the airflow on blade vibrations of axial compressor rotors. Their stumbling block was that they required the test rig’s old CAD data in a readable format to enable their new parts to fit into the existing casing.
