We are looking for girls from our equestrian club to help with beginner lessons over the Easter holidays. Dates are : Tuesdays 9th April Thursday 18th April... 10.30 - 11.30 both days
If girls help on BOTH days, Nichola will offer them a free 45min group lesson on Sunday 21st April.

It is with huge sadness that I have to tell you that we said goodbye to our loyal friend Toby today. Over the weekend he developed a seemingly mild case of colic and yesterday went to the vets over night where they were very positive that a good amount of fluids would move the impaction along. Unfortunately after a good night he went quickly down hill and the difficult decision was made to let him go. Marion bought Toby back from Ireland in 2004 when he was 15 and very, ...very speedy!!! He did some work in the school (for riders who didn't mind his 'enthusiasm'!) but luckily for Franki Jarvis Eventing, because he wasn't the normal riding school pony, Franki took over the ride. I have so many stories to tell about their achievements together over 6 fabulous years representing Essex Hunt North Pony Club and Stansted Riding club all over the country I wouldn't know where to start...and it would be a lot of reading! Maybe that's another post, in his later years he has been invaluable for teaching our younger riders to ride and enjoy their first canter - at a more sensible speed it has to be said. He will be very sorely missed...Jane x

You may have heard in the National press about the current outbreak of Equine Flu? Although it is not fatal the horses can be very poorly and be off work for a considerable time to recover fully. To try and avoid this virus hitting our team at Maple Pollard we would ask you to follow our guidelines when visiting the yard. The virus can be transmitted directly - horse to horse or on hands and clothing, also it can be airborne. Please... make sure your boots are clean, even if you haven't been directly around other horses, and if you do have contact with other horses that your hands are washed and clothes clean . The virus can be in incubation for 1 to 5 days so even if the horse seems ok he might still be carrying the virus. We thankyou for your co - operation in this and hopefully this outbreak will soon pass and we can get back to 'normal'.

While both our arenas were frozen solid this morning, we finally got to ride later on. We worked on stretching our horses in walk and trot, while giving them an abdominal workout over poles, as well as working on our jumping position. 🐴 Great work everyone 💪

Lessons are ON...make sure you wrap up warm as it is a tad chilly!!! The yard is still a bit slippery in places so be careful if you come up to the top. #wintersports #thermalsneeded

I'm always trying to work with different exercises that teach the important elements of jumping without just jumping higher and higher. This weeks challenge was to jump down a small line working on keeping the straightness, with legs before hands. It was really good fun and hopefully everyone took home something to think about! Loved it , they taught me loads over six years from being afraid of horses to loving them.....

I've been riding here for 10 years and its full of great horses and lovely helpful staff.

I want to thank Marion and her team for giving my daughter Keira the best birthday party. Your staff are so knowledgable, friendly and so helpful.

We do come in the holidays also for riding lessons but when Keira does reach 7 she will be a regular Saturday girl.
