What a fabulous afternoon!! I came down with 4 samily members to enjoy and afternoon tea, worried that the menu wouldn't cater for the fussy couple I came with but they didn't disappoint. There was something for everybody and I was most excited about the wide range they had on offer. 3 members opted for cook food, including a cooked breakfast and jacket potatoes. all of which was really well cooked and the jackets came with a very large, fresh salad too. Myself and my Nanny chose the afternoon tea for two. IT WAS DELISH!!! its comes with drinks, a selection of sandwiches, scones with clotted cream and jame & also a slice of cake of your choosing too. We were asked about sandwhich fillings and expected the standard cheese, egg, tuna etc but were greeted with far far better!! brie &cranberry, chicken & bacon, FRESH salmon and cream cheese. all in really fresh doorstop bread with a lovely uncut loaf crust!! The stones were crumbly just how they should be and the cake was well flavoured and very old fashioned which you would expect in a vintage tea room. I left feeling really filled and happy having enjoyed an afternoon with family who were all really satisfied with the food they had been given. The prices were reasonable and the setting was most enjoyable. Thank you to a wonderful team of staff for great customer service too and well done on a truly great business and for putting a touch of Rochester Vintage into Gravesend xx

The tea room itself is a lovely place to visit with friendly staff and a huge range of wonderful teas and cakes but there is also the market stall with fantastic, personal service and many tea associated items to purchase. From crockery and cutlery locally sourced specifically for Marie’s and ethically sourced and created teas. A real gem

Such a lovely little tea room. All three generations of my family enjoyed it, and had a lovely early Mother's Day lunch here. Will definitely be coming back, I have to try all the different teas on the menu

Spent 2 hours in this lovely little tea room for a not so spooky cake decorating session with my 3 year old and 10 year old. You made our late afternoon a fantastic one. You managed to keep all them kids happy. They sat still for 2 hours and loved spending the time engaged in what you was telling them to do. You took part and even ate with them. Great Halloween afternoon tea. Thank you so much

My Mother-in-law, daughter and I just had the most amazing Cream Tea here. Thank you for the lovely food and tea, amazing playlist to listen to and friendly and helpful staff, best service ever. Will definitely be back again soon. Thanks for a relaxing afternoon and keep up the good work.

Love this little place. Service was what you would expect in a tea room, simple menu and good variety of cakes.

Love this little gem in Gravesend. Friendly staff who bend over backwards to make sure your time there is perfect. They even cater for gluten free which is normally a struggle for me. The Raspberry & Chocolate tea is gorgeous too!!!

First visit to Marie's but I'm sure it won't be my last. Served by the extremely knowledgeable and friendly owner who discussed the teas available and what goes into them, in the end settled for my usual brew, Lapsang Souchong which was excellent. Next time I will try something different.

A quaint little tea room with a great selection of teas, coffee, savories and sweets, and reasonable prices just next to the Victorian market and down the hill toward the River Thames from Gravesend's main shopping street.

Old, mismatched furniture and similarly unique cups, saucers, plates and teapots match the cute Victorian corner building that house them. The prices are right with a Cream Tea (scone, clotted cream, jam and tea of your choice) just £4.20 ($5.95) and a large caffe latte just £2.50 ($3.50).

The Daily Special the day we were in was Truffle Risotto (£5.95/$8.40), quite a bargain by British standards, but with dinner just a couple hours away, I did not sample it and, therefore, cannot comment on the taste or quality. The tea and coffee, however, were plentiful and tasty and the scones (plain, cheese, or fruit) large, fresh and scrumptious.

The staff are very friendly, efficient, inviting and professional. A sign of quality and proper sanitation, the toilet (bathroom - one unisex) is spic and span and properly stocked with TP, hand soap, hot water, and plenty of paper hand towels. I was told they just finished renovating the kitchen, having installed 100% stainless steel counters and equipment.

A delightful little place, appropriately enough there was a large group of sweet, older ladies having High Tea (finger sandwiches, cakes, pastries, scones, clotted cream, jams, and tea) when we were there. If in Gravesend and in need of a drink, snack, or meal, Marie's is a good bet and a GREAT TravelValue!

This is a great cafe with superb loose leaf tea. Staff are very friendly, cheese scones are excellent.

The lad that served us was lovely, but was a bit disappointed that I waited for over half an hour for a cheese sandwich, wouldn't mind if it was busy, but there was only two other customers in at the time, and the bread was a bit on the dry side, not sure if I'd go there again.

Jut spent a lovely few hours making chocolates and then afternoon tea as the start to a hen day. Thank you Graham and your staff for making it such a nice way to start the day ... highly recommend the homemade vegan scones :)

User

Waited over 1/2 hr for my tea to arrive ended up cancelling the scone which was just coming out if the oven! I don't want a hot scone and cream! No choice given about it. Nice tea but so slow!

After visiting several times before, twice for cream teas, we thought after a rainy trip to Eastbourne for our 16th Wedding anniversary we'd come back to Marie's for afternoon tea. Very disappointed!!!!

What we got was sandwiches cut into triangles of all different shapes, a couple of dry, floury tasting warmed up scones, 1 pot of jam & cream to share between the 2 of us and a crumbly warm slice of millionaire shortbread.

Whilst I understand they can't supply the traditional cream tea selection of little cakes without booking I felt their enthusiasm to provide an equivalent experience lacking and their quality of food abysmal.

We did speak to owner /manager who gave us 10% off the bill but not much of an apology or response considering our feedback and opinion was being compared to previous good experiences.

Have no intention of visiting again

Turned up at 1:00 with my 3 friends for an afternoon tea that we had booked 2 weeks ago. On arrival we were told they had left a message and cancelled our booking. We did not receive this message. They weren't even apologetic (Probably because they had a group of 20 booked in and didn't need our custom). We asked if we could sit outside for afternoon tea and was told well it might be a wait as we have the group of 20 to serve. Millbrook came to our rescue and provided a lovely afternoon tea. So won't be going back there again due to their extremely poor customer service.
