Couple a days ago, parents of recently born baby ❤️👼🏻❤️ asked me if there are some books 📚 they need to read. Believe they didn’t expect the answer I gave them.
There are many amazing and inspiring books out there. Theoretical and practical ones. By all means - read them, read them all. But the most important thing is to TUNE IN WITH YOUR BABY💞 Baby will show you what she/he needs. Be observant. Try different approaches. Work together and cooperate. Care for them, protect an...d love them.

New addition to Play and Creative Arts Therapy Toolkit. Beautiful wooden doll house 🙌🏻🏠 💛💚
Children often choose to play with a doll house. It’s an opportunity to show their everyday life. Through play they show their worries, issues and problems but, more importantly, learn hope to cope, manage and resolve them in a safe environment and using most natural medium to express - PLAY.

Sometimes asking for help is the hardest thing to do. To ask for support and help one need to accept that he/she has an issue, need(s) that is (are) not met and that there is an absence of wanted and needed support (that unfortunately never came). You are not alone. There is always someone that can help and support you - counsellor, psychology wellbeing practitioner, therapist, clinical psychologist, health psychologist, psychiatrist. At Amygdala Services we take privacy very serious so it’s safe to leave your worries with us.

Play Therapy is usually the best approach to all issues and difficulties child has. It can be directive and non-directive and experienced therapist knows how to support and help a child in a safe an effective way. Play therapist supports a child in helping her/himself. Similar to this, in filial therapy play therapist support parents/carers to develop skills on how to support and help their troubled child through play. And it works. My work and work of many other play therapist is a proof that it works exceptionally well,

Chronic pain is defined as persistent and recurrent pain. The most common chronic pain conditions are musculoskeletal pain, headaches and abdominal pain. Unfortunately, chronic pain affects the entire nervous system. The term “central sensitisation” is used to describe increased central neuronal responsiveness to painful and non-painful stimuli. Often, pain is accompanied by fatigue, sleep problems, mood and cognitive difficulties. The attempt to dichotomise chronic pain as e...ither biological or psychological is an oversimplification and is often detrimental to optimal assessment and management of chronic pain.
In Amygdala Services Ltd we offer highly specialised assessment and management of chronic pain for children, young people and adults. I have 15 years of applied clinical experience in hospitals working with people that suffer from chronic pain. State-of-the-art approach to chronic pain is through multi professional work. We provide top quality specialised psychological input and collaborate with Occupational Therapist, Physiotherapist and Pain Team. Our main approach is combining Clinical Psychology and Health Psychology and every treatment plan is specifically tailored made to suit your needs. Usually, treatment for chronic pain will include elements from Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Mindfulness and Narrative Therapy. No worries if someone has developed opioid dependence - we are there for you on your journey to find better quality of life. #ChronicPain #TopQualityCare #TailorMadeIndividualisedApproach #MDT #OpioidDependency #CBT #ACT #Mindfulness #NarrativeTherapy

Did you ever hear of parental alienation? In this valuable video dear and esteemed USA colleague Dr Eric Green explains parental alienation as actions which parents take, intentionally or unintentionally, distant a child from the other parent. Child is caught in the middle which often has negative effects.
Clinical Psychologist can help a child to deal with psychological effects of this situation. Play therapy is often the best approach for children of divorce, parental conflict and alienation. Both theory and experience showed me this is true. #ChildrenOfDivorce #ParentalAlienation #MartaBenkoClinicalPsychologist #MartaBenkoPlayTherapist #MartaBenko_Psy

Great numbers of children use medical services. 1 in 11 children will be referred to hospitals outpatient clinic and 1 in 10-15 of those will continue receiving medical care as inpatients. 🏨 Approximately, 15-20% children have a chronic disease or medical conditions that require regular treatment or care. 💉💊
Research has showed that children with chronic illness are at increased risk of developing psychological difficulties (compared to healthy peers). There is a good evidenc...e that those difficulties are emotional, and less behavioural. Although it is important to provide effective treatments for emotional and behavioural issues when there is a need, further aim is to promote resilience, positive adjustment and quality of life.
Psychological support, treatment and therapy for children and young adults with chronic or life-threatening illness and their parents/carers and families is now available in Richmond, Greater London. Self-care is of the ultimate importance for the quality of life. It would be wise to self-care in professional and private sense. One of the most important tools for professional self-care of clinical psychologists, health psychologists and therapists is clinical supervision. But there is so much more one can do. Of course, there is no magic formula that applies for all; only stuff that works for you.
What is your formula? How do you self-care? Let's inspire one another.

Reserchers found a significant correlation between circadian rhythms and Alzheimer’s disease. It is still a question of chicken-and-egg - if disrupted ciradian rhythms put people at risk for Alzheimer’s disease or whether Alzheimer’s-related changes in the brain disrupt circadian rhythms.
At least, disruptions in circadian rhythms may serve as biomarker for preclinical disease, says Ju.

Third Country Children are the children of international business people, global educators, diplomats, missionaries, the military - anyone whose family has relocated/relocates because of a job placement. Born in one culture, raised in other(s). How does that affect them? Their identity is closely aligned with others raised like them, moving internationally. There is that feeling of being from everywhere and being from nowhere.
Feeling out of place, constant process of adapta...tion to new, culture shock, feeling powerless/without control over own life, losing friends, pressure to gain new ones, changes in family dynamics, identity issues ... There is huge abundance of loss which is often something that family doesn't talk about.
Supporting, counselling and psychotherapy with Third Country Children includes working on sense of belonging, recognition, connection, feeling of safety, loss and grieving. I place a strong emphasis is on building strengths and resilience. #MartaBenkoClinicalPsychologis t #MartaBenko_Psy #ThirdCountryChildren #ThirdCountryKids
