Welcome to the official Facebook page of Merchant Taylors' School. One of the 'Great Nine' schools of England, we have provided outstanding educational opportunities to boys in the London area since 1561. By any criteria, our boys make us one of the 'top ten' boys' schools in the UK. Ours is an exceptional learning community that provides a first class education in a humane and civilised environment. We value breadth of achievement as much as success at the highest level. Of greatest importance to us is that boys grow to be independent and free-thinking members of a diverse community and that they develop: confidence; the essential skills for life after School; and a set of positive and morally secure values that will provide the foundation to meet the challenges of a rapidly changing world. Above all we want pupils at the School to be happy, to consider the needs of others and to know that they are recognised as important and unique members of an exceptional school".

City Network Event
OMTs, parents and past parents gathered at the Oriental Club in central London, on Tuesday evening.
As guests arrived the evening picked up pace; OMTs rekindled friendships and both current and former parents thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to get to know OMTs and others from across the school community. Head Monitor Selvan Senthilkumaran and Second Monitor Ore Olubode ensured everyone was well looked after; we are so grateful to them for their expert h...osting and for creating such a warm and welcoming atmosphere. In his speech Mr Everson spoke effusively about the school and encouraged OMTs to revisit Sandy Lodge to see the many dramatic changes that have taken place since they left the school.
We look forward to the next City Network which will take place on Thursday 20th September at Ernst and Young, More London. Put the date in your diary - details on how to register will follow in due course!

Armistice Parade at Ypres
MTS and St Helen's CCF attended the Armistice Parade in Ypres over the weekend. Thirty six cadets and five staff attended with six Cadets selected for the wreath-laying party to assist royalty and VIPs. A wreath was also laid at the grave of one of the greatest MTS sportsmen, John Raphael, a former British Lions captain who was killed at the Battle of Messines in 1917.

Sunday 25th June will be a huge day for cricket fans at MTS as the Lashings All-Stars come to school to take on the MTS 1st XI. The Longstops event will be supporting the MTS Senior Cricket Tour to Sri Lanka in 2018 and the Spanish Cricket Tour. Please invite your friends and family to be entertained in the company of some of the legends of the game.
The day starts with a three course Sri-Lankan lunch in a private marquee. Entertainment will be provided by the Lashings All Stars team including test match commentator Henry Blofeld. Tickets cost £55 per person and must be booked in advance.

Our next Opening Morning is Saturday 6th May.
The OMT Arts and Creatives Networking event is an opportunity for all those who work in the creative industries, whether design, architecture, art, music, publishing, marketing, radio, TV, film, fashion, gaming, performing arts, museums or another related field, to meet and catch up over wine and canapés.
We are thrilled that this year, Martin Rowson (OMT 1978) will be sharing a few thoughts about his recent work. Martin is an eminent political cartoonist whose career began ...drawing satirical cartoons of his teachers while he was a pupil at Merchant Taylors’. With such a dramatic political landscape to reflect upon, and his work will no doubt provoke more than a little discussion.
We do hope you can join us for the evening. There is a £10 charge for tickets, which must be booked in advance via the link below, to contribute towards the cost of the event.
