Went with family for dinner. Got a nice table next to fire place. Food was taking a time, but it’s ok as they were very busy. Food was tasty as always, just for the first time my partners stake was a bit under cooked, but just right by the bone, so we didn’t make a big deal out of it. I have to say even kids really enjoyed there meal( normally it’s hard to please them lol ) Service was very nice shame I can’t remember name of waiter (male) . Been looking after us a lot all our visit !

Well once again this restaurant never fails us - 16oz ribeye cooked to perfection and the waitress was magnificent - thankyou Julie for continual fantastic service - will be back

We had a great Meal at Miller and Carter Chigwell. It was my daughters 30th birthday. They made her feel special and she really enjoyed the evening. The meals were fab and good portion sizes. My daughter was given complimentary birthday drinks and they sang to her when they brought her pudding with candles in it. The service was very good and our waiter was polite and had a great sense of humour and happy which makes a big difference to the evening. We wasnt rushed out either even though we were the last to leave. Thank you for your hospitality.

Visited for my mum’s birthday last night with a group of 8, had an extremely positive experience and the food was delicious. I had steak, the best steak I’ve ever eaten! I could have eaten it all over again.

I would like to make a special mention to the chef last night, he brought out some of our meals and made a special effort to talk to me as I had ordered from the gluten free menu. After a discussion with him I felt extremely safe eating with you! His knowledge and reassurance was so valuable and also very rare. Knowing that he had personal experience with gluten intolerance in his family was also a comfort. Thank you so much. I wish I’d found out his name but hope he can still be given the praise he deserved.

My mum enjoyed her evening and everyone in the party had a lovely meal. We will be back! ��

Met 18 family members for lunch on Sunday. Really impressed with the service. All food out together, quickly, hot and very tasty. Waiting staff were really friendly and accommodating. Liked having a whole room to ourselves and thank you for the bottle of prosecco.

Food was great but Julie was even better...!!! Thank you Julie for making our Frankie’s Birthday a very special one with outstanding service...x

While my partner and I were there , I posted on my Facebook where I was and they replied! And then (I think he was the manager) came over to us and had a conversation about the post and to congratulate us on our new car purchase! Was such a lovely personal touch which made our visit extra special.



My partner had never been there before but he will definitely want to return, not only the service but the food was to die for! Great value for food (especially the lunch deal) and the restaurant it’s self was very clean and well presented.



Overall our experience was one of the best I’ve ever had to any Mitchel & Butler restaurant (I even used to work for a Harvester so I’ve been to a few haha)



Highly recommended hidden gem In the country side.

Absolutely fantastic, although we were late and I tried phoning 17 times to inform with no answer, the staff made up for it in shed loads. THANK YOU to all that made my girlfriends 30th so special

We booked a table online for my sons birthday and requested a high chair, this was not at the table when we arrived & had to remind the Manager. We felt the Starters menu lacking in choice, Mains & Dessert are good, although they had run out of Vanilla Ice Cream but failed to tell us that until after the order so it was then awkward trying to reorder as not everyone wants or likes the flavored ice cream and custard isn’t always a suitable option either. Perhaps better stock control would stop this happening, however good quality Vanilla ice cream is available locally until they replenish stock as they must have known they were low from the weekend coverage. However, the bar service was terrible and staff not adequately trained as my drink eventually arrived with no ice and when I asked for some the glass was overfilled but quickly replaced when I complained. I don’t want to be over pestered by waiting staff but I would have appreciated a better service as we had to keep trying to find a waitress to order drinks ! The food itself was lovely, however my grandsons meal had been forgotten and we had to ask for it & the extra portion of chips for the kids. The staff were pleasant but despite us ‘making remarks’ the Manager didn’t attend our table, with hindsight I should have asked to speak to him but it was a birthday celebration and I didn’t want to spoil it. I’ve been here before, albeit a few years ago but I’d not be in a rush to go back due to poor service, and this was on a Monday Evening so it’s not like they were rushed off their feet.

We got served our starters and the plates were then left on the table and not cleared until our mains came out. Our main plates were then left on the table and not cleared until we asked them to about 20 minutes later. All this time the staff were standing chatting at the bar. This isn't the first review about plates not being cleared on time, maybe something that needs to be looked into!

Second time booked a table seated straight away... fantastic. 25 minutes later we still haven’t even been offered a drink. I had to get up and speak to management to get a drink. On the other hand she dealt with it soon as possible and got our first round or drinks for free.

Prompt seating but at the back of the place and it smelt like cheesy feet and felt like sitting in a layby on the M11, not very romantic. Food was OK, but waiter was a bit too friendly/familiar and didnt like the way he crouched down and put his elbows all over the table. Not great follow up for drinks orders.

Family meal to celebrate husbands 50th Birthday. We booked a table and were seated straight away. When taking up our seats I thought I could smell drains then realised we were sitting quite close to the toilets!!! The “greeter” was pleasant and took our drinks order straight away at our request. Starters we OK not fantastic but no complaints, however our dirty plates were left on the table quite a long time and the waiter even tried to serve the salads that come with steaks before these were cleared until I suggested that maybe he might like to clear the table first. Unfortunately 3 out of our 5 main courses were disappointing. Chips were cold on these 2 meals, my Husbands steak had to be sent back at first as it wasn’t very hot when he eventually tried to eat it there was so much fat on it there was hardly any steak left. We did complain and they did eventually take this off the bill despite the resident steak expert insisting that there may be at least 3oz of fat on a 12oz sirloin??? Second drinks order seemed to take ages to arrive as did the waiter when we were trying to pay the bill and the smell from the toilets only got worse as the evening progressed as we got a waft of them every time somebody went in. The butterball chicken and rump steak were delicious, just a shame it was the Birthday boys meal that had all the problems so he wasn’t very happy and is now devouring a tin of tomato soup with bread as he is still hungry �

Went here for a meal for 2. Stood at the bar for 10 min while 6 staff were having a conflab in the back before getting served. Starter was luke warm and mains were pretty average. Ordered a bottle of white wine that wasn’t at all chilled. Had to ask for some ice. We won’t be rushing back

Terrible food and service on Christmas Day. Not one course was without a hitch. Didn't even start with a properly laid table with the obligatory Christmas Crackers had to get our own glasses for the wine. Problems throughout the meal and poor response from customer services. Think twice before going here to celebrate, it may ruin your day!

I am disgusted at the service of this restaurant... we had specifically booked a table for our boxing day meal... said booking was made before October... to be told several times our table booking had been "locked in". On 3 other occasions prior to this on turning up to be told our table had been given away and we was seated in the gods despite having guests with us that struggle to get up and down stairs... so back to today turn up on time and low and behold our "locked in" table had been given away!!! This is now the 4th occasion that this has happened and we have been sat in the bar near the door so constantly getting a draught! The fact that this has happened now for the 4th time over the course of around a year and we have spent a lot of money in this restaurant over the years I am absolutely disgusted by this behaviour!! The food isn't what it used to be (the coleslaw I was served was off!!) And is massively overpriced for what you actually get. I can honestly say we will never come back here and we used to be very loyal customers. Shame on you Miller and Carter.

Second time booked a table seated straight away... fantastic. 25 minutes later we still haven’t even been offered a drink. I had to get up and speak to management to get a drink. On the other hand she dealt with it soon as possible and got our first round or drinks for free.

Prompt seating but at the back of the place and it smelt like cheesy feet and felt like sitting in a layby on the M11, not very romantic. Food was OK, but waiter was a bit too friendly/familiar and didnt like the way he crouched down and put his elbows all over the table. Not great follow up for drinks orders.

Family meal to celebrate husbands 50th Birthday. We booked a table and were seated straight away. When taking up our seats I thought I could smell drains then realised we were sitting quite close to the toilets!!! The “greeter” was pleasant and took our drinks order straight away at our request. Starters we OK not fantastic but no complaints, however our dirty plates were left on the table quite a long time and the waiter even tried to serve the salads that come with steaks before these were cleared until I suggested that maybe he might like to clear the table first. Unfortunately 3 out of our 5 main courses were disappointing. Chips were cold on these 2 meals, my Husbands steak had to be sent back at first as it wasn’t very hot when he eventually tried to eat it there was so much fat on it there was hardly any steak left. We did complain and they did eventually take this off the bill despite the resident steak expert insisting that there may be at least 3oz of fat on a 12oz sirloin??? Second drinks order seemed to take ages to arrive as did the waiter when we were trying to pay the bill and the smell from the toilets only got worse as the evening progressed as we got a waft of them every time somebody went in. The butterball chicken and rump steak were delicious, just a shame it was the Birthday boys meal that had all the problems so he wasn’t very happy and is now devouring a tin of tomato soup with bread as he is still hungry �

Went here for a meal for 2. Stood at the bar for 10 min while 6 staff were having a conflab in the back before getting served. Starter was luke warm and mains were pretty average. Ordered a bottle of white wine that wasn’t at all chilled. Had to ask for some ice. We won’t be rushing back

Terrible food and service on Christmas Day. Not one course was without a hitch. Didn't even start with a properly laid table with the obligatory Christmas Crackers had to get our own glasses for the wine. Problems throughout the meal and poor response from customer services. Think twice before going here to celebrate, it may ruin your day!

I am disgusted at the service of this restaurant... we had specifically booked a table for our boxing day meal... said booking was made before October... to be told several times our table booking had been "locked in". On 3 other occasions prior to this on turning up to be told our table had been given away and we was seated in the gods despite having guests with us that struggle to get up and down stairs... so back to today turn up on time and low and behold our "locked in" table had been given away!!! This is now the 4th occasion that this has happened and we have been sat in the bar near the door so constantly getting a draught! The fact that this has happened now for the 4th time over the course of around a year and we have spent a lot of money in this restaurant over the years I am absolutely disgusted by this behaviour!! The food isn't what it used to be (the coleslaw I was served was off!!) And is massively overpriced for what you actually get. I can honestly say we will never come back here and we used to be very loyal customers. Shame on you Miller and Carter.
