Million Minutes

About Million Minutes

Million Minutes supports projects that transform young people's lives.

Million Minutes Description

Young people are often seen and not listened to. They get shut out of decision-making, stereotyped, and scapegoated for society’s problems. And it’s not right. Young people’s energy and vibrancy shouldn’t be underestimated. They care about the future. They can change the future for the good of all.

At Million Minutes we want to enable young people to be the ones to build a world based on the principles at the heart of Catholic social teaching – the principles of dignity and equality, of service to the poor and the oppressed, of care for the world and the promotion of peace and solidarity.

At Million Minutes we’re inspired and challenged by CST. It lies at the heart of what we’re trying to do. At its core is the basic concept that all people are made in God’s image and likeness. If we believe that this is true then we are inspired to care for one another, whether or not we know the other person.

CST provides guidance on how to approach situations and principles to guide how we live our life and how we treat others both locally and globally.

We're looking for an Engagement Officer to join the team. Could it be you? Or someone you know? Full details on our website.
Million Minutes is seeking a highly motivated, passionate individual with an understanding and experience of working in a Catholic setting to join our team as ‘Engagement Officer’. You will have a passion for social change, be committed to the principles of Catholic social teaching (CST) and have proven skills in motivating young people and those who wo...rk with them.
The Engagement Officer will help to engage parishes, schools and communities into participating in Million Minutes’ main activities, all of which enable young people to engage with CST:
• siLENT – an annual campaign to raise awareness and support for young people; • The Celebrating Young People Awards - honouring young people who exemplify CST; • Courtyard - a new project developing a model for parishes to work with young people ‘on the edge’; • our grants scheme.
You will achieve this by working with the Million Minutes’ CEO and the Courtyard Team (see www.courtyardproject.org.uk) to develop and implement strategies to engage the ‘gate keepers’ in Catholic parishes, schools and communities who work with young people. You will also work directly with young people to share the principles of CST.

A whole million seconds of silence will be clocked up today by the Sisters of the Holy Family! They are staying silent with Lay Holy Family members and young friends. They told us that "Together we can do great things". We think they are amazing.
If you also want to support young people, donate and leave a message for the Sisters:
