Quite correctly the ban on selling items made from Ivory post-1947 has made the carving of something so stunning as these mermaid figures all the more remarkable. These were carved a number of years ago in Bali. The material? 10-50 million years old Mammoth ivory! The incredibly detailed statue stands 6" tall and is on a rosewood plinth.... This amazing treasure is available at Moodys for £2500

When we first started selling Bremont watches at Moodys, back in 2008, there was a core collection including the ALT1-C, ALT1-P and notably their first Limited Edition the iconic EP120 (of which we sold 5!)
In 2009 Bremont launched their first watch in a partnership with a top British company - in this instance Martin-Baker.
10 years on from the launch of the Bremont MB range, a partnership which has not only become synonymous with the Bremont brand, but which celebrates pi...oneering British engineering, the luxury British watch company introduces the anniversary MBIII/WH GMT chronometer.
The new white dialled MBIII, limited to only 310 pieces, has been designed and built to mark the 10th Anniversary since the release of Bremont’s first MB watch back in 2009.
As with all MB models the 43mm case is waterproof to 100m and the automatic movement is protected from magnetism with a Faraday cage and radical shock-proofing. The Trip-Tick case has a Titanium case ring and this combined with the white dial gives the watch a quite dressy but very functional look
Martin-Baker, the British aviation company responsible for supplying over 70% of the western world’s Air Forces with fighter ejection seat technology, is at the very pinnacle of British engineering and innovation; the now iconic Bremont MB range has redefined the aviation watch world.
The RRP for this Limited Edition of just 310 watches worldwide is £4,195 so act quickly to order this stunning watch from Moodys before our allocation has gone.

Finally representing the Royal Navy is The Argonaut, a name inspired by Greek mythology and synonymous with Navy history having appeared on Commissioned ships for nearly 250 years. Part of the Bremont "Armed Services Collection" this exciting new 42mm hardened steel-cased military dive watch houses a three-handed chronometer rated BE-92AV movement. The internal rotating bezel is operated by a crown at 4 o’clock, and readability on both the hands and dial have been crucial in ...the design process. With minutes being so critical in the marine environment, the highly legible orange minute hand can be seen very clearly and is filled with custom green Super-LumiNova®. The watch has a 42 hour power reserve and, being suitable for the Royal Navy, is water-resistant to 300m. The RRP of the Argonaut is £2795 and this stunning watch is availble to order from Moodys now for delivery in May

Representing the Royal Air Force branch of Her Majesty's Armed Forces is the Bremont Arrow.
The Bremont Arrow is slightly larger than the Army Broadsword as it is a 42mm cased mono-pusher chronograph. The pusher at 2 o’clock on the two-piece hardened steel case will start, stop and reset the stopwatch on the chronometer rated BE-51AE movement. The Arrow plays on the same British military DNA as the Broadsword but is aimed at the airman with its chronograph functionality, a ne...cessity for any timed mission. The sub-dial at 9 o’clock is a running seconds, and the chronograph has elapsed minutes on the 3 o’clock counter. Engineered with the utmost integrity at Bremont's workshops at Silverstone and assembled at their HQ in Henley-On-Thames, the Arrow is steadfastly accurate, durable and legible.
As with the Broadsword the watch is 100m water-resistant but carries a beefy 48 hour power-reserve. Again the embossed case back illustrates the crests of the 3 arms of Her Majesty's Armed Services.
The RRP of the Bremont Arrow is £3595 and is available to order now from Moodys for delivery in May.

We have been looking at the new Bremont "Armed Forces Collection" in the flesh this morning and these are fantastic new additions to the Bremont watch collection. The Bremont Broadsword is a contemporary take on the three handed ‘Dirty Dozen’ watch design which houses the chronometer rated BE-95-2AV movement inside its two-piece 40mm hardened steel case as well as a sub-seconds hand at 6 o’clock. Multiple layers of luminous paint on the hands and dial complete the original sp...ecification for the British Army. As with all Bremont watches, these will be produced at the company’s headquarters in Henley-on-Thames, UK. The first thing to notice is the use of a new 40mm 2-piece hardened steel case that has lines engraved into the case sides rather than the Titanium and anodised aluminium case rings associated with their customary 3-part "Trip-Tick" 43mm cases. The watch loses none of the Bremont DNA with this change and, as with all models in the collection, is printed "HMAF" on the dial (for Her Majesty's Armed Forces) and has a wonderfully embossed case back as shown. The automatic chronometer-rated movement has a 38 hour power reserve and the watch is 100m water resistant. The RRP is £2595 and is available to order from us now for delivery in May.

The Dirty Dozen is the name of a movie from the 1960s, depicting the misadventures of 12 fictional soldiers during the Second World War. It is also, in watch collecting circles, the name given to a group of 12 watches worn by those who actually fought in it – specifically, British soldiers. They were commissioned by the British Ministry of Defense (MoD) during World War II, and while they may not be as highly rated as other military watches when they are presented individuall...y, as a set, they become some of the most collectible – specifically (but not exclusively), by British collectors.
Switzerland would export large quantities of watches and pocket watches during WWII, to both the Allied Forces and the Germans, but these were civilian market orders which pre-dated the war. The MoD thought these were not suitable to the needs of British soldiers, and decided to place an order for custom-built wristwatches. These needed to be accurate, reliable and durable, which in watchmaking terms meant they had to be regulated to chronometer standards, and also be waterproof and shockproof.
The watches also had to have a black dial, Arabic numerals, luminous hour and minute hands, luminous hour markers, a railroad minute track, a shatterproof crystal, and a stainless-steel case. Powering them would be 15-jewel movements, measuring between 11.75 and 13 lignes.
Twelve companies would fulfill this brief: Buren, Cyma, Eterna, Grana, Jaeger-LeCoultre, Lemania, Longines, IWC, Omega, Record, Timor, and Vertex.
With their new "Armed Forces Collection" Bremont not only pay homage to all those who have served so bravely but also the "Dirty Dozen" Military Watches.

Henley-On-Thames based master watchmakers Bremont have announced some wonderful new watches for 2019. They have also proudly announced that they are the first watch company to sign the Armed Forces Covenant, the story of which is below. 3 new watches called The Armed Forces collection have been announced, confirming their continued support to those who have served in HMAF.
Bremont Co-founder Nick English and Air Commodore John Wariner met for the official signing of the Armed... Forces Covenant, a promise from Bremont Watch Company to treat those who serve or who have served in the armed forces, and their families, fairly. The signing took place at Bremont's Headquarters in Henley-on-Thames and is the first time an Armed Forces Covenant has been signed by any watch brand. Air Commodore John Wariner, Air Officer A6/A6 Force Commander based at High Wycombe signed on behalf of Defence to signify the start of a mutual relationship in support of Defence which will be further developed over time.
The Armed Forces Covenant is tailored to each business, organisation or charity that signs and can include a whole range of pledges usually including the employment of veterans, service leavers, spouses and partners; providing a supportive environment for employees wishing to be Reservists; and taking part in Armed Forces Day events. It is a 'living' document which can be amended and updated at any time.
Nick English said "As a business we have always been incredibly proud to support those who serve and the growth of our military division over the years is testament to this. As a British brand, working with the British Armed Forces has been a hugely important part of our military journey; we've enjoyed a close connection with Her Majesty's Forces which has been a great privilege."
English continues "We pledge to continue our charity work with the military and we believe it's hugely important for companies like Bremont to support the gallant men and women who serve this great nation. Bremont has proudly worked with Invictus, Walking With The Wounded and the Royal Air Forces Association amongst others so this feels like a natural and very special next step."
Air Commodore John Wariner said "I was delighted to sign the Armed Forces Covenant with Bremont. It is clear that Bremont has a fantastic approach to Armed Forces personnel and are a role model employer who recognise the terrific value of their people who have served previously, and those that continue to enjoy Reserve Service."
Our review of the watches will follow....

Ahead of her time in more ways than one, Concorde flew faster than a rifle bullet and halved the time of transatlantic crossings. Over 2.5 million British Airways passengers experienced flying eleven miles high at twice the speed of sound. This evocative civilian airliner completed more supersonic flying hours than the entire world’s air forces combined. To celebrate the 50th anniversary of an aircraft both brilliant and beautiful, Bremont has launched its eighth historical l...imited edition timepiece, the Bremont Supersonic, incorporating parts of one of the most famous and iconic planes in history – Concorde. Only 20 Concordes were built, seven of which entered service with British Airways. Concorde was the flagship of their fleet. The Bremont Supersonic will incorporate a ring of aluminium from Alpha Bravo, Heathrow’s last remaining Concorde. The silhouette of this remarkable aircraft is subtly machined into the movement’s customised base plate and G-BOAB’s attributes feature in gold around the aluminium decoration ring. Parts of the proceeds of these unique limited edition timepieces will be donated to the Air League Trust, an organisation that works to introduce under privileged children to learn how to fly. The brilliant cause is part of a wider network of charities supported by British Airways, known as Flying Start. The Bremont Supersonic wristwatch is available in Limited Editions of 300 in polished Stainless Steel at £9495; 100 18ct Rose Gold at £16995 or 100 18ct White Gold at £17995. For the first time Bremont have produced a manually wound mechanism with an 8-day power reserve meaning you would only have to wind the watch once per week. Contact us at Moodys to register your interest in this iconic watch.
