You will all by now be aware of the result of the EU Referendum and you may have seen the early reaction on world stock and currency markets. This is indeed an unprecedented moment in the UK’s history.
At this early stage, where fear and uncertainty are the dominant feelings, the most unwise thing for investors to do is panic. The vast majority of our clients hold globally diversified, risk managed portfolios which we are confident will fare well against volatile stock mark...ets. A loss is not a loss until you sell, so patience and a sense of perspective are our best allies in turbulent times.
We believe that countries and companies will trade profitably where there is the will to do so, and the next few months will see trade deals negotiated which may look different from those which have gone before, but may be just as advantageous – perhaps more so. It may be reassuring to know that we have already heard from some investment fund groups that they are planning to take advantage of lower share prices to buy back into the market in the next few days.
Today is a day for taking a deep breath, letting the dust settle - and having belief in your long term plans. We are here to work with you with that aim in mind.
