About Myatt'S Fields Park

A community-run Victorian park in south London, working to grow a green and healthy neighbourhood by providing a beautiful natural environment, along with events, food, wellbeing, education and enterprise projects that meet the needs of our diverse area.

Myatt'S Fields Park Description

Myatt’s Fields Park is run by a charity called Myatt’s Fields Park Project in partnership with Lambeth Council.

Our mission is to grow a green and healthy neighbourhood by providing a beautiful environment, along with events, food, wellbeing, education and enterprise projects that meet the needs of our diverse area. We see the park as a true community hub, welcoming people of all ages and backgrounds.

MFPP was started by a group of park users in 2000, becoming a charity in 2005. In the past MFPP worked alongside the council, managing additional activities, including the cafe and the greenhouse and events programme. In the wake of budget cuts Lambeth were looking at innovative ways of running green spaces and in September 2015 they handed over to MFPP.

Since then we’ve collaborated with the council to develop Myatt’s Fields as a Pioneer Park, receiving support to become financially sustainable by hiring spaces for weddings and events, and working with businesses.

We’re proud of everything we’ve achieved. In 2010 we raised £3 million to renovate the park, providing a new playground, children’s building and toilets. We've supported local groups and individuals through our greenhouse and community programmes exploring world food history.

But we depend on YOUR ideas, time, skills, contacts and support to keep the park bursting with life! To find out more about how you can get involved, visit our website www. myattsfieldspark. info or email manager@myattsfieldspark. info

The Grade II-listed park includes:

- Little Cat Café
- Community Greenhouse
- Wildlife area
- Football pitch and tennis courts
- The Mulberry Preschool, which hosts free Stay & Play sessions on Monday, Thursday and Friday afternoons www. mulberrypreschool.com
- Playground with fantastic waterplay area
- Spaces for hire for weddings and other private events (incl. Victorian bandstand and roundhouse, children's centre)

Toasting joy at the harvest festival. Over a hundred children doing some outdoor cooking and learning to respect and enjoy fire. Love it!

User

Laughter yoga is on! One workshop at 2.30! Please don’t let it stop you having a giggle anyway. Lots of music and children’s activities at the harvest festival tomorrow 10-4pm.

User

Stop Look Listen - the best of indie-folk and acoustic music from London sand beyond - are performing in the roundhouse today noon to 2pm

User

Who fancies getting in a pickle with us?

Wonky veg and wonderful jam? Chayote and cauliflower cake? Bring them to our homegrown competition at harvest festival. Categories in the photo. 30 September. You could be a winner!

Hooray! Lambeth have agreed to put our bin collections first in line, so there should always be a weekday collection around 7.30 and 3.30. This does mean that there is even less of an evening collection. So if you are picnicking in the evening, please take your rubbish home, or bring it to the bigger bins in the car park. An empty bin is a happy bin!

User

Bring your teddy bear to the park today for the Teddy Bear's picnic, from 2.30pm in (naturally) the picnic area.
🥪🐻
Sandwiches, African drumming, make your own re-usable picnic wrap and lots of information. ... The water play is on too.

Do you love the wet play? You can help look after it by; -Not bringing throw away packaging - If you have to use it, take it home - If you have to leave it here, squash it up before putting it in the bin. - Please don’t balance rubbish on a full bin. It will fall!

User

This afternoon in the park and play area, we have African Drumming, free refreshments, and lots of children's activiites, as well as information about services for parents and small children. All from 2pm, provided by our partners at Lambeth Early Action Partnership.

Water Play Update - Closed for cleaning monday ONLY. Should be open on Tuesday and the rest of the week unless anything breaks!
They are doing Brockwell early tomorrow, but at least will arrive with the permit!

User

The water play is on! Please take your rubbish, recycling and nappies home. The bins and loos can’t take it on busy days!

User

One for all you grown ups to show anyone who leaves their rubbish behind. Litter legends are tops!

User

Shopping bags and leisurely stroll at the ready, the Sunday market is on tomorrow until 3.30, and we have an amazing drawing workshop too.

Water Play Update - after some confusing and conflicting information, we are told by Lambeth that the engineers from Engiewill be on site to look at the problem at midday. We hope they fix it.
Lambeth complaints line is https://www.lambeth.gov.uk/…/contact… /make-a-complaint-guide
And Engie's is here https://home.engie.co.uk/help/policies/co mplaints/

User

We are confused and frustrated to hear from Engie/Lambeth that there is still no water play at Myatts, it’s not on today, but was on for the weekend. Sorry not to have a clearer message today folks, we are hopeful for you.

Don't eat them all! Join a wonderful walk for mulberry fanciers with researcher and expert Peter Coles. 29 July. http://www.museumofwalking.org.uk/…/lon dons-mulberry-herit…/

User

Water play update; Engineers from IWS and Engie together removed this twig which had jammed into the non-return valve, letting water back through. They have to check out some other minor areas over the next day or two, however it should be on for the weekend and possibly as soon as tomorrow.

While many parks are disappearing or falling into disrepair Myatt's Fields Park improves with each season.

User

Went with my family for a lovely bird-watching tour of the park yesterday, guided by Philip and Sara. A great way to start the weekend. Now we're all inspired with birdy fervour. This is a wonderful park and great community asset. Many thanks!

User

This park is a real gem. Always a pleasure to visit and does not disappoint. It must take a tremendous effort to keep the park so nice. Congratulations to all those who work so hard to give us visitors so much pleasure. Bandstand, tea rooms, children's play area - a classic park well worth its listed status. John Betjeman considered it very highly. Pleased to say it is still in safe and enthusiastic hands.

This is an amazing oasis, in a busy noisy area. A great place to walk, sit and play with the loveliest little cafe..one of my favourite places ️

User

Such a wonderful park. Beautifully designed and a lovely place to walk around or sit for a while. Great playground that has equipment for all ages, and a fountain in the summer. The cafe serves really good coffee and delicious food. So lucky that this is our local park!

User

Really lovely park to hang out with your friends, babies, have a chat and a nice coffee from the lovely cafe!

User

One of London's more beautiful community parks with many original Victorian features including a bandstand. Large dog area.

User

Love this park - it's got it all: wild garden, pretty little bandstand, really good playground that my 18-month old loves, toilets (essential) and nice little cafe w friendly staff. Also love the stay and play, which is a kind of indoor/outdoor space - they keep all the doors wide open so outside merges with inside. I just wished I lived nearer so I could come more often, as it's a bit of a trek for us :-(. It really is gorgeous.

User

I was there yesterday and my kids loved it,the community had there fun day,and it was just lovely.x

User

Grandson's 4th birthday party held here. Room was hired, which was excellent, having kitchen and toilets. Also use of trikes etc, sand pit and lots of secure outside space.

Would certainly recommend.

User

Amazing park with beautiful Victorian features. Ideal for kids and with a great cafe!!

User

Absolutely awesome play area. My son loved the climbing frame, water feature and the zip line. I recommend this play area to all carers as it's safe and clean.

User

A lovely place! And, besides, the macchiato was extra, to say nothing of the courgette cake i've been offered. Yum-yum! :)

I haven't known the park before, and it was a shock for me to discover it to day. Out of a sudden.

You feel the hearts of many people loving the place and making a lot to maintain it in such a stand. Thank you!

Coming back again!

My Dad, who is 81, used to live in Brixton, and played tennis and football in your park. We visited yesterday, and were very impressed with how well kept and tidy it was. The cafe was exceptional, even though we only had coffee . It was a great day for a trip down memory lane x

User

User

It was very good yesterday for the fate shame they turned water fountains off for nearly 2 hours it was needed because of the heat

User

Wish I'd read the reviews about the water feature before I came. Hot day. No water fountains! I haven't seen it on once this entire summer. Sort it out, please. Otherwise, a lovely park.
