National Indoor Climbing Award Schemes - Nicas Description

The National Indoor Climbing Award Schemes are UK-wide schemes designed to promote climbing development (NICAS) or bouldering development (NIBAS) and accredit individual achievement on artificial climbing structures. We loved seeing this NIBAS session all about #climbingholds. Great stuff 👍 @withrepost • @highballnorwich NIBAS this morning having a refresher regarding hold types and how to use them with Richard and Ben. A important factor in climbing and something we would always encourage to learn!

Our 1st "role of the Technical Advisor" workshop held at Westway last week was well received and valued by TAs and non-TAs alike. Book here: https://abctt.tahdah.me/event?eventTypeId =27 for this Thursday's session in Manchester (BMC's offices). NB: this is an insightful CPD workshop but is not a NICAS/NIBAS induction.

We're delighted to announce two forthcoming workshops presented by Anne Salisbury. They are open to all existing and aspirant Technical Advisors and Competent Persons: find out more and book at https://abctt.tahdah.me/event?eventTypeId =27

This popular workshop has only been open to AMI members in the past, but we are delighted to have arranged for Anne Salisbury to deliver this to all existing and aspirant Technical Advisors and Competent Persons within NICAS and NIBAS.
The workshop is a great tool for those thinking of progressing into the world of Technical Advice as well as a good refresher for those already involved. The contents are based on practical experience built over many years. Alongside Anne will... be a member of our ABCTT Coach Development Team to answer questions relating to the role of the Technical Advisor and Competent Person within NICAS and NIBAS.
Recognised by Mountain Training UK and AMI as CPD.
You are able to book this event online at https://abctt.tahdah.me/event/detail/2809 9 . For any issues please contact us at admin@nicas.co.uk
Anne Salisbury has for many years been involved in Adventure Activities and their safety management. She is a Senior Inspector with the Adventure Activities Licensing Service and holds an MSc in Outdoor Education. As an experienced MIC and IML holder she has been involved in teaching, instructing, guiding and lecturing in the outdoors for 30 years including trips both personal and professional to many areas of the world.

Well done to all the teams who competed at the Italian Job competition at Mile End on Saturday. Team NICAS came 4th (we were represented by Hannah Slaney, Eugenie Lee, Sammy Oakes and Hannah Zia, who started their climbing journeys at Undercover Rock, The Castle, Crystal Leisure, and Mile End walls). Hannah S and Eugenie qualified for the finals and were 2nd and 5th individually. Great work! Thanks to everyone involved for a fantastic day.
