Surrey Hills' Hidden Gem... (one of!)
Let there be light: the weekend's teaming up with the brilliant London and West Middlesex NT Volunteers, the task was on opening HH's paths & bridleways.
HH volunteer team trip down to West Purbeck, Dorset. Helping the formidable NT Team there with a livestock fencing task and sharing heathland management techniques.
True to form, Stan in command and giving out the halftime Team Talk: "woodlarks and nightjars now nesting (and much more) on that newly clearly area of heath behind us, so neutral tactics - be still and enjoy."
Cleared of birch scrub with 100 volunteers and staff in December, Canada Heath is one area of Headley recently restored and already delighting in the return of rare birds such as woodlarks and nightjars.
Permission to walk and (just) BE with Nature, on Headley Heath ....
A typical Sunday litter pick on Box Hill. Visitors bring all this mass of food from their cars but yet have no thought or conscience to take anything back with them. Sorely, their children follow these footsteps and then what about their children........
Sundays Friends of Headley Heath & Military History Project Open Day... Fantastic turn out, really well supported. Thank you to all involved and those who helped on the day.
Team tea chat - a worthy respite from the all the brilliant conservation clearing work on HH.
We love the place at any time of the year. A beautiful escape.
My family and dogs Love headley Heath, it's a beautiful escape. ❤️
I love this place in all season's
Have visited many times
Had such a wonderful time
Only issue I had was there was a car that fell into the slope and just been left it's been sat for over two years and it's not safe for kids it only takes them to clamb down then the car over turns it's not safe also there's a few barks that sicks out and is a issue
Dogs adore it here and our rescue comes out of her shell and goes bananas, we all love this place and the snack hut lady!
Nice walk. The lizard walk was well marked. Lots of dog walkers but unfortunately a few poo bags left for the poo bag fairy to collect.
Lovely place and welcome refreshment van having cycled from London.
Minor concern that while there are cycle-able tracks on the Heath they are not readily accessed from the obvious entry point by the van.
