About Noble Rot Restaurant And Wine Bar

Our restaurant features Chefs Stephen Harris and Paul Weaver from the Michelin-starred The Sportsman in Whitstable with an amazing wine list.

Noble Rot Restaurant And Wine Bar Description

Located on Bloomsbury’s historic Lambs Conduit Street, Noble Rot Restaurant & Wine Bar has been a wine bar since 1973, and was originally built in 1700. Chefs Stephen Harris and Paul Weaver from the Michelin-starred The Sportsman in Whitstable oversee a menu of fine Harris-style cooking; expect to find oysters, cold cuts, bread and olives in the front bar, with an expanded restaurant menu in the back. The wine list ranges from deliciously undervalued wines by the glass to hard-to-find gems from the worlds leading winemakers; expect to find mature bottles from legendary domaines like Jean-Louis Chave, Armand Rousseau, Château Latour, Château Rayas and Domaine Tempier at reasonable prices.

We’re thrilled to have found what we think is the perfect spot to showcase the spirit of Noble Rot Magazine in one of central Londons most attractive, independent shop-lined streets, and we hope to welcome you to our new home soon. We take reservations for the restaurant online and by phone, whilst tables in the front bar section are allocated on a ‘first come first served’ basis.

User

What an amazing venue! I only popped in for a glass of wine and ended up having two dishes as well. Friendly staff who know what they are talking about and made excellent recommendations.

User

Well where do I start

An interesting entrance on a summers day , taken into the labyrinths of the dark ( black painted ) restaurant lit by candle and fuse bulbs

Wines by the glass are a must and try a five / six course menu as I did with wine to match

I loved the tomatoes and smoked eel with the heredia it wAs an amazing combo

Try it

Many thanks for the experience I will

Be back soon

Used to frequent this as "Vats". Nice to see that the refurb hasn't ripped the heart and soul out of it. Snack menu was great, loved the breads and the burratina. Very nice cloudy prosecco went down very well indeed, a bottle each for we ladies and then of home before the nice young man could talk us into another one.. Entry to the loo is still down the Stairs of Death, how we have survived all these years is a mystery.

User

Thoughtful and delicious menu influenced by the pintxos of San Sebastian (which were fresh in my mind having visited 2 weeks previous). And the wine list has depth and breadth, Charles the sommelier was superb with his recommendations. Go there now and go again.

User

Such an amazing place, great staff, great food, great wine and great atmosphere. I will return soon!!!

User

Stopped here as part of a gastronomic bus tour. Absolutely amazing pork belly, cabbage and delicious mash. Will be looking to revisit for a full experience. Very quaint, great atmosphere and great area of London to try out, away from all the usual.

User

Lovely people, and delicious dishes.

User

Incredible wine list that is reasonably priced. Great unfussy food to go with the wine. You will not be disappointed.

User

Hands down my favourite wine bar in London. The food is incredible and the wine list is really accessible and has some corking wine by the glass.

One of the biggest pluses for me though is the staff. I like to drink wine by the glass when I go to a place that specialises in it so I can try as many as possible, and the staff knew the wine list inside out, even suggesting some wines that weren't on there. They were so enthused by both the food and wine menus, you could really see the pride when they were recommending their favourites. Brilliant stuff.

User

Great food, great wine, great service. Loved it.

User

Exceptional from beginning to end ! ! !

Thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience, from the moment we arrived we knew this would be special. Exquisite food only bettered by the attentiveness of the staff.

User

Excellent oysters, beautifully cooked duck and an amazing 40 year old Bordeaux. Wonderful! Must return....immediately!

User

Excellent food and wine!!! it was very good discovery well recommend by our good friend that was with us as well at dinner last night.

Pork belly was really good, all the food that we ordered last night, from bread to appetiser to our main course to dessert was all excellent.

User

Came for the wine menu. Ended up being a race to the finish line between service food and wine. Impecible evening on all accounts. Surprisingly well priced for what you get. P.S we were asked to taste the wine

User

As you would expect of a wine bar with a name like this, Noble Rot has an excellent and extensive wine list, although on my last visit for lunch with my wife we sampled some white wine by the glass. I had the excellent slip sole for my starter (a homage to the similar dish at The Sportsman near Whitstable, Kent) and we both followed up with sea trout with our first taste of Jersey Royals of the year. The fish was well seasoned with crispy skin and the potatoes were magic. Only the coffee proved a sour, or rather bitter, note.

User

A fabulous evening last night! The food and wine were amazing and the team were outstanding! We were engrossed in conversation and did not see the team but every time we looked down, glasses topped up, crumbs cleared up and menus placed next to us for our next taste of wine and food. After dinner they arranged a lovely table tucked away in the bar so we could continue our conversations and enjoy more lovely wine! Just outstanding service!!!! Cannot wait for our next visit!

User

Very quiet when I arrived with friends, service was excellent as was wine selection. The "wines by glass board" was a little confusing at it appeared to have full bottle measures against the price list. BUT the wines and cheeses I selected were perfect.

User

Random stop for a light lunch b4 Kings X mayhem. Fabulous food with simple flavours in just the right combinations. Mergues and white beans were a delight. Big choice of Wine by the glass. Service just right too...

User

Great little place who ever puts the menu together has a great palate and the wines are fab too only reason it’s a 4 is that it’s busy so time limited tables and can wait for table even if you have booked...not sure what they could do about that as the causative factor is how great the food is! Make sure to book and enjoy .
