last week was the first time i used my north custom. kit. was completely blown away. the kit was gifted to me at Christmas and ive been very apprehensive about using it. (been playing a pearl export for ten years) so its it's been in storage since Xmas and straight out of the cases the kick sounded phenomenal and the Tom's sing. as someone who helps out at ncd I've been exposed to some awesome sounding drums,but never had any time to sit and listen for any length of time and the good news is, I couldn't be happier the kit and matching snare is everything I've ever wanted in a drum kit. As I have been exposed to Andy and Chris's strict quality control ethics I know this kit will last, as it's built as well as it looks. I'm happy to be part of the North custom team and family. now I just need to buy an additional Tom for it one happy chappy x

So I have seen this company on FB for a few months. I decided to get in contact re a new snare drum.



I have Been a drummer for over 30 years and have bought and sold the best.



After speaking to Andrew I decided to order a 14x8 bubinga snare with a trick throw off.



I got the snare this week and after tuning it it up I can honestly say that the sound sits up there with the most expensive snare I have bought.



It's well made and the colour is great. If I had ordered the snare from one of the big USA custom shops it would no doubt have cost £800 plus.



The snare is the best £290 I have spent. I am now in talks with Andrew for add on toms to my kit.

Received my new kit from North Custom Drums a couple of days ago, it sounds and looks absolutely amazing! Pictures don't do the finish justice and the Evans Calf tone head on the kick reso compliment the kit beautifully!



On top of that their customer service is top quality, always felt taken care of and handled in a professional and friendly manner.



P.S. Go get a kit from them, my next snare will be made by these guys and I can't wait!

Purchased a snare from North Custom absolutely love it. It is my go to snare for shows.

My relationship with North Custom Drums started this September when I've began searching for an endorsement or better to say a drum family which will support me and believe in my success as a drummer and a musician! In October I ordered a custom snare drum to start supporting NCD as an artist. We discussed different options and I told what I wanted the sound to be alike, it had to be a punchy, deep dark toned drum so we discussed that and I had a 14"x7 birch/mahogany hybrid shell with Waterfall Bubinga as Outer and Zebrawood as Inner veneer plies at the end! I also customized golden hardware & tube lugs because I'm fond of it recently :) Guys at NCD will make your dreams possible that's for sure, everything considering woods, shell making or full drum/kits building - you've got to check them out and don't hesitate in ordering one incredible drum from this company! Just received my ex tour kit today direct from Jimmy Rainsford. I couldn't be happier with it. As soon as I got it out of the box and it smelt like KFC I knew I was onto a winner. The finish is amazing, it's the most beautiful drum kit I've ever seen. The only thing that outshines it's beauty is its sound, it's exactly what I've been looking for. It's the easiest kit I've ever had to tune, even I made it sound half okay! It's the most comfortable kit I've ever played and I couldn't be happier. Thanks Jimmy and north custom drums! Just picked up my stunning new kit and snare from North Custom Drums.

In my 20 years of playing and within that time, being an owner of countless kits, I can honestly say that this in the most incredible looking and sounding kit I've ever had.

The process of talking through designs and ideas in the early stages was super easy and I ended up with a kit that was better than I had originaly thought possible.

Andy and the rest of the team should be truly proud of their work and I'm super excited to see how they'll continue to progress and innovate over the next few years.

The passion, knowledge and expertise is clearly there amongst them all.

I was super impressed when Andy brought his kit to my studio to record a demo.



The toms where everything I would want from a tom, lots of attack, less sustain (but just enough) and some real depth and warmth. I usually reach straight for the EQ when recording toms, but I didn't need to with these.



The snare had similar characteristics as the toms. Lots of attack and warmth, no ugly overtones. Punchy as hell. It would suit rock, metal and punk perfectly.



The kick surprised me due to the amount 'click' that I usually have to dial in with EQ. Again, perfect for rock, metal and punk where the kick needs to poke through loads of saturated guitars.



I didn't mix the drums at all for the demo video, I simply balanced the levels and provided them with a single stereo file, so what you hear is exactly as it was captured.



Andy has had 2 of the 'high end' custom kits before and I had the opertunity to record a kit of his that cost around £4k. I was far more impressed by his own creation, so don't be a fool and buy a kit because your favourite drummer uses one. Save yourself a fortune and buy a North Custom.

I purchased a 13 ply beech shell with a zebrawood inner veneer a while back. I still have not finished the project but the build quality of the shell is fantastic and the price was on par with any of the other big name shell suppliers (shipped to the US!!). Looking forward to ordering more shells in the future.

Hand crafted (yes, they make their own shells), hand colored, 100% custom drums. Man in charge, Andrew Mckenna, he's a top lad for sure. From first to last step, you talk to him and he's nothing short of preofessional. Its a great company that everyone will be seeing more of in the coming years.

I bought a 14x6 raw cherry snare shell to upgrade my old Tama rockstar. Once delivered l got a bit nervous when came the moment to drill it considering my limited DIY skills but with a little bit of common sense and time everything went flawlessly. The snare really meets my expectations, l got the warm fat sound l was looking for. I think this is the most cost effective solution you can find to get yourself a nice kit and l am really considering upgrading the other shells. Plus customer service is great, communication is fluent and nice even with a frenchy like me. I got really surprised and pleased when Andy called me on my mobile to get my feedback on the snare !

Easily five stars. These drums are loud, punchy, provide clean tones and they look incredible. Everything I asked for I received and more! Customer service is hands down the best I've had with any company. Prices are incredible. Just in packaging these drums I could tell these drum builders love what they do. I will be with North Custom Drums for a very long time.

Can say nothing but good things for NCD from the quote all the way threw to collection of the kit, and has been more than helpful not to mention super talented at what he does! I've played pro kits for the last 7-10 years and after playing my first show with my new NCD it is defiantly one of the nicest kits I've ever perched behind, not to mention the most stunning kit I've seen. The low end tones are amazing with a nice balance of attack and volume! Buying a new drum kit is very exciting, but daunting, which make etc. Taken me a couple of years looking on websites asking other drummers. I finally found North Custom Drums, Burnley, fairly local to me. Was very happy with the friendly, knowledgable guys, took the plunge and asked them to make me a kit, with bass mounted toms. Collected it last Tuesday, just set it up...it sounds amazing, meaty, fab tone, loud as I like, but best of all it looks super wonderful. Gigging with it tonight and cannot wait. Thank you Andy and the guys...I am one happy drummer xx
