NUKATO IS A FAMILY BUSINESS RUN BY SISTERS UZMA AND FARAH KHAN
We set up Nukato because we are proud of our cosmopolitan heritage and wanted to bring an eclectic mix of eastern and western style into the home and giftware sector. We love carefully crafted items from cushions to boxes and kitchen and garden accessories that meld traditional and contemporary ideas.
Our parents were born in Kenya but the family origins are in Pakistan so all our lives we have been aware of good craftsmanship, colour, light and individuality.
Nukato, which means sweet smell in Swahili, features original and handmade gifts to make your home vibrant and stylish. They are made by small creative businesses and talented workers and crafts people and are hand picked.
You’ll find new and traditional textiles, different patinas, vintage designs and useful but chic accessories for inside and outside the home. Nostalgia and nature come together.
Each product has been carefully selected from all over the world including India, Pakistan, Kenya and Vietnam in fitting with the Nukato policy of sourcing items that have been made under fair conditions. We aim to ensure that everything comes from sources where a fair wage is paid and good working conditions apply. It is our way of helping workers, many of them women, to make a decent living in parts of the world where exploitation is not uncommon.
