About Olivier'S Bakery

Artisan Master Baker Olivier Favrel Borough Market

Olivier'S Bakery Description

The early Years. . . .

Olivier' s Bakery is a journey that has had many twists and turns. Born into a true Breton Family, Olivier was raised on a noble diet of buttery Croissants and Crusty baguettes before he could speak.

A Long Trip. . . . .
The young Olivier was a passionate soul, with a taste for the finer things in life, After following an early career as an apprentice Patissier-(in the good old day's when the rolling pin was mainly used for discipline- not rolling pastry)-Olivier then packed his bags and decided to embark on a London life.

London Life. . . . . .
Olivier started his London career working for the renowned Patissier 'Didier', he then moved to the Conran Group and worked at the newly refurbished 'Bluebird 'in Chelsea. In 2001 Olivier started work at Flour Power City (which had recently opened) Olivier worked up through the ranks of this young and ever expanding business and ended up as on of its core people.

Olivier' s Bakery. . . .
Opened in Autumn 2011 and was an immediate success, with Markets across London including the Famous Borough Market- A Hallmark of quality- Olivier' s also has a select hand full of wholesale customers.

I just came back from holiday; I really missed our pain au levain Never felt blotted; just a fantastic healthy organic loaf; yes, it is 100% Organic; all our bread are made with organic flour and made in a specific process to make them healthy. If you wish to visit us; I would, if you do like Bread, I Mean BREAD, not those packages look a like which are fast process, unhealthy, containing ingredients such as additives, improvers, added gluten; those ingredients are responsibl...e for many allergies; Natural gluten content in the wheat isn't that bad as strongly suggest somes; it has good too but most importantly; the process in making bread will be the result of a good or bad loaf; the result of the gluten being a problem. Most package breads, supermarket breads, sliced cheap bread are the issues to gluten intolerance; so much was added or just overwork during mixing the dough process that over many years by factory making huge amount of money by creating a product that will affect their customers; they new as they had to explain nutritional value; their products are fast processed by machine which create a high volume production. Bad bad very bad. Please ask yourself a question: How can you make a bread that big (supermarket) with as average 60% flour + 40% water? Only by adding high content yeast, overwork the dough which will make the gluten like a chewing-gum (this is why gluten is a problem; if mix appropriately; gluten will break down easy In your body). Thank you for reading that far; I hope I gave you a good idea to chose where should you buy your bread in the futur. If you which to visit us; please google wwwoliviersbakery.com Truly made artisan bread is healthy

Did you know 98% of our bread are made from organic flour; The 2% non organic is a White spelt untreated from Austria which in my taste is the best White spelt available in Europe. The fact that we do not use improvers is a challenge; to obtain consistent products naturally; there is only one way: passion, love and respect. We are proud to say that the focus of our process will guarantee a consistent quality; an artisan baker using natural or organic ingredients will have to... process his work shift adapting differently every single day to make sure that the naturals elements of life such as water, temperature (air), heat (baking) fire, flours or grains quality (earth) are all coming together through a specific control process. Well; on paper it is quiet straight forward; in practice; it become a different matter. Support bakers using organic, untreated ingredients; your health will be rewarded. The work involved to make a good healthy loaf of bread will only be made by someone with a passion, but most importantly; honesty and dedication to offer people an healthy presence on our every day food sharing table. You should know that Wheat isn't bad; the way the Wheat or other cereals is cultured and treated with chemicals is one of the main reason of most allergies; wheat is good, natural, healthy. There is no bad wheat, like any other cereals, pastas, rices, corns, fruits, vegetables,etc.. There is only bad people who don't care using poisons to create mass production; they get rich to make you sick.. Look around; you will find a butcher, greengrocer, baker, fishmonger.. they will offer you a great quality, services and let you know when and where your purchase come from. Don't get your food from supermarkets; avoid all packaging Farmers and food markets are so pleasant, knowledgeable, ready to help you decide what you want Support the farmers, producers, artisans, markets, borough market We need you to help us; so we can offer you honest and affordable quality food. Olivier
Ps: my Facebook page apparently isn't active enough; I guess this one will help a little

Whenever I'm in Hammersmith, I always pick up some sourdough bread and an almond croissant. Delicious. Conversation is good too.

User

We bought a spelt sourdough bread with its kf seeds on top. Absolutely yummy, great flavor, nice and semi-dense with a perfect crust.

User

Was snapping your bread at Kingston Market to put on instagram, took a sample and then had to go back and buy some as so incredible. Brownies also divine:-)

User

Visited Olivier's stand at Taste of London where the delightful Sybil persuaded me to take home some of her sourdough loaf. Amazing! Even better was the pain-au-chocolat she slipped me. Great stuff, can't recommend highly enough.

User

Tried spelt products at Gails bakery and was put off for life! Tried cheese straws and bread at syon park goodies festival.... wow!! Am now a convert!!!

User

So yummy! Pastries are to die for and the staff are lovely: the girls on the campsite crew really looked after us at the IoW this weekend.Thank you for my breakfast and snacks

User

Saw you guys at Secret Garden Party, let's just say you saved our lives every morning! Best almond croissant ever (my parents live in France and it would rival their local bakers- that takes some doing)

User

Le Rustic has to be, quite simply, the best loaf in London.

User

I came across Olivier's Bakery at a festival. I was immediately drawn to an impressive display and was subsequently blown away with the spelt breads and the most delicious almond croissants. We tried ALL their produce over the weekend - literally became addicted!

The higher cost breads are truly worth the spend, they definitely last a little longer but the quality, flavours & textures are incredible - for me that is where the value is.

Awesome.

Now then, where's the mail-order option

Almost time for my yearly trip to get some delicious spelt products

I love this place.

My experience of Olivier's Bakery up until today has been Borough Market......... always found the staff to be very helpful, happy and informative. The baked goods are really delicious and the ingredients often organic . Bought a dozen spelt minced pies for the Christmas holidays. They were so good I wanted a second dozen.......... so went over to Bishop's Park this morning to pick them up. We were met with an aggressive, surly, rude man who was SO unpleasant. There was no one at else the stall when we arrived so he wasn't busy. Left without the minced pies and will certainly not visit that market again. Back to Borough and the friendly, warm atmosphere there.

User

Just got the apricot/walnut bread from the farmers market and was so excited to dig into it after hearing amazing things about their bread. However, on the second bite I took, there was a long hair threaded in the bread. The first bite was delicious, the second was quite depressing...

User

The brunette girl who's actually working on your stand in The France Show is so impolite. Definitely don't want to give you my money.

I was standing in front of the stand with my friends, talking about bread, when she came to us (she was talking with someone in the stand of cheese) and said "you want to buy bread ? No ? So don't stay here"

It was 5:30, I'm an exhibitor and the venue was empty. Thank you for representing the French hospitality !
