Hi all, we have a Race night on Friday 5th Oct at 7pm sharp, £2 per bet, come and join us for a night of fun, bring your friends and family, all proceeds going to breast cancer care.

Come and join us for a glass of wine or two. We highly recommend the Oyster Bay paired with Crispy Calamari - dusted with chorizo & red pepper flavour seasoning, served with sour cream & chive dip.

We can never predict the weather here in Upminster so we've made sure our menu still has warm comforting favourites. Give our Slow Cooked Short Beef Rib a try! Rib of beef in Bordelaise sauce served on mashed potato with chargrilled tenderstem broccoli.

End your week with one of our sweet treats. We highly recommend the Baked Alaska - Raspberry and sponge base topped with ice cream, covered in a glazed meringue and served with raspberry compote.

These light evenings are beautiful and our light nights menu works so well with it. Why not try our Salmon Nicoise - Chargrilled salmon, boiled egg, baby potatoes, green beans, tomatoes and marinated olives in a honey & mustard dressing.

The staff where so lovely, was a girl in her earlie 20's and she was so helpful ensuring the high chair was wiped clean, and nothing was a problem for us, the food was quick to come out and was very nice, we will be definelty returning again and would highly recommend 👍🏼😊

OMG I cannot recommend the winter salad with chicken enough. Honestly, give that a try - I know it doesn't sound like the most tasty dish served in a pub, but you will not regret it. One of the best vinaigrette dressings I've ever tried! Way to go! Well done.

Not long moved around the area and tried the optimist taven out tonight and what a lovely place to go, food was amazing staff was friendly even the manager (John) took time to have a conversation with us and the staff couldn't of made us feel anymore welcome and even took time to entertain my 4 year old daughter, Well Done Optimist Taven for your great service tonight highly recommend ��

14 of us went for a meal yesterday to celebrate a birthday - food was great, service was great and staff were excellent, couldn't have been more helpful

Amazingly quiet for a lunch time meal, but all good...will go again

It is a nice place for a drink but the food wasnt great. Husband had 10 hour cooked beef rib... was tough and certainly didn't fall off the bone. Son had burger... kinda ok but nothing special...he left half of it. I had hunters chicken and it was dry... thought there was no sauce but found a smear of it. Bacon was nice. Chips were not worth the calories so none of us ate them. Oh and starter nachos were both greasy and dry/stale. This was our second time eating there... first was uninspiring but we gave it another go... wish we hadn't bothered. On the plus side.. . nice cat called Doris!

Food wasn’t hot, stomach was painful afterwards, won’t be ordering food again in a while. Roast chicken was very dry. Waitress was really nice though, as we were out with family I didn’t want to make a fuss, but a few of us mentioned about the meals being unsatisfactory.

Every time we visit they have always run out of something that we have chosen on the menu.

I love the pub go every week Friday or Saturday evening but last night the food was crap sent it back came back still cold and without steak course . Such a shame because barmaids are the nicest people ever it’s really not there fault. Will just come for drinks in future 👍
