About Ottolenghi Islington

Our first restaurant style Ottolenghi with seating for about 50 people. Tables are mostly long and communal. Open for breakfast, lunch and supper.

Ottolenghi Islington Description

As close as it gets to a flag-ship, Islington was our first restaurant style Ottolenghi. As well as take-away food, we seat about 50 in the cool, sophisticated-yet-laid-back environment, mostly around communal tables (with a few small tables for two). The restaurant, just opposite the Almeida theatre, serves hot breakfast, voted by the Observer the best in town (get the French toast or make your own toast at the table), lunch from the counter and amazing hot food from the kitchen at dinner time, served to share in mezze size portions. We take bookings for dinner but not during the day. If you want to have brunch on the weekend try to arrive early, to avoid the long queues. The premises (unfortunately not the toilet) are accessible by wheelchairs.

You can apply for a position in one of the Ottolenghi locations by sending us your CV to recruitment@ottolenghi. co. uk. You can also apply directly www. ottolenghi. co. uk /careers

The SIMPLE hamper brings you the newest Ottolenghi cookbook and the 10 Ottolenghi ingredients we think you might not have in your pantry. These ingredients are described in SIMPLE as Yotam's 10 'favourite little flavour bombs' and are used again and again throughout the book. A quick and easy injection of flavour for anyone who'd like to cook Ottolenghi dishes - simply.

The newest addition to our savoury collection - the amazing Ottolenghi rye biscuits are finally here! Being our first proper, spreadable crackers, these are perfect for the cheese board or simply lathered with butter! Completely wholegrain, they are made with rye and buttermilk, with a sprinkling of caraway, fennel and black sesame, topped off with a salty Maldon sea salt crunch.

We have been Ottolenghi fans for years - cookery books, tv show & newspaper column! So we had built up pretry high expectations after finally getting the chance to visit last night. Our expectations were surpassed - every dish was delicious with delicately balanced flavours and amazing textures 😍 To top it all off, we got to choose desserts out of the window display. Now trying to find another reason to farm out the kids & visit London again so that we have the excuse to go again! PLEASE open a branch in Glasgow?

User

Very good service & prices.

User

This is one of my favourite places to eat, for someone with a gluten allergy it is heaven!! There are no negatives.....staff friendly attentive and never overbearing, toilets clean , smart with gorgeous handsoap. Atmosphere, upmarket but not unwelcoming. You could come here for a work lunch or an anniversary.....Great!!

User

The unexpected combination of flavors -- ranging from kumquat, to turmeric, to celeriac -- was outstanding. Four dishes, even at what seemed at first to be small servings, was enough for the two of us, with a dessert chaser. Service was attentive and pleasant.

I went with two of my step daughters and their mum to celebrate. We had a wonderful evening, we loved the food and the service was excellent. Jusy need to find another excuse to go back.

User

I went with my sister on recommendation from friends of mine in Australia . The whole experience was just excellent. From service, to ambience, to the food. The glorious food. Yum . The portions are small but we liked that. I can not recommend enough. Worth traveling for!

User

I loved this place!! On my bucket list and happened to visit London from Cape Town, South Africa. I make his food all the time. What a treat to be served these scintillating delicacies that I know take much love, preparation and passion. I was not well and the staff offered hot water, ginger and lemon with honey. Even that tasted awesome! You rock!!! Thanks everyone for an exceptional experience.

User

Having visited before, we were apprehensive that it lived up to our previous experience. It was every bit as good! We even got the same table! The staff were attentive and as soon as I explained my food intolerances they spoke to the chef and came back with choices for me. Suffice to say, even though my options were limited by no onion, garlic and dairy, I wasn't stuck with uninspiring choices. Usually I don't get any choice! I had a modified aubergine and tahini dish and tuna, fabulous! Thank you

Had dinner last Friday with my partner to celebrate my birthday. We were sat in a table for two which was a lovely way to start the evening. Our waiters, Carolina & Grant were very welcoming and knowledgeable and added to the whole experience. We had a lovely bottle of Italian white wine and shared 5 dishes, all were superb! Just an explosion of favours! Also had a grapefruit cake with custard for dessert and was surprised with a little birthday cake, again, super tasty! Everything was amazing!

User

Fusion kitchen using pure ingredients with pure tastes. Delightful combinations of dishes and superb selection of desserts! £40-45 with two glasses of wine.

User

Excellent service and the food is divine!

User

Every mouthful so full of exciting flavours. Absolutely delicious food. Never seen my fussy kids eat this well. Very intimate and relaxed and such a beautiful and funky place. The staff were amazing. Worked a treat for our choosy 16-year-old, our suspicious 10-year-old and our teething baby. Absolutely brilliant brunch for all five of us. Bliss.

User

Absolutely the most beautiful cakes Ive ever had. The orange and poppyseed cheesecake was exquisite, light and moorish. The staff were super efficient and attentive, which is always a delight for customers.

User

I have been to Otto Lenghi many times, and have really enjoyed their flavour combinations and complex salads ( although I can competently make them myself now ! ) However, yesterday with my son at lunchtime, for dessert we ordered the fruit galette.

It was a small portion.....on seeing the bill and realising this undersized portion cost £6 !!!! That is OUTRAGEOUS .....

Sorry, very disappointed in you

User

Friendly atmosphere, good staff, excellent food.

User

Food was outstanding. Well defined flavors. Desserts fabulaous.

Service was really poor during my visit and they were not that busy. Lots of talking amongst themselves.

I would go back, thats how good thw food was

User

The food was tasty, but very over priced for the portion size. Portions are tapas style, so price should be tapas style, shouldn’t be charging the same price as a main meal! We left there hungry after 5 small dishes, water and a glass of wine, spending £35 per person!!!

User

Love the ambience, great coffee and the cakes simply amazing - but very much let down by the service!

User

Sadly disappointed 😔 bland salads however complex & arty farty, measly portions, however good bread & the fillet of beef was awesome but overall doubt would go again unless I had to. Can't understand all the raving reviews on here, we were a party of 10 & everyone felt the same.
