Charitable trust set up to promote modern Middle Eastern and Arab art and culture, focusing on Palestine.

P21 Gallery Description

The P21 Gallery is an ambitious project in the making, to be an independent London-based non-profit making organisation set up to promote modern Arab art and culture with special focus on Palestine. The gallery is located in architect-designed premises in the heart of London’s Kings Cross, near the British Library. It provides contemporary display spaces and installation areas with facilities to be used for a range of public functions, from presenting art and performance to running workshops and exhibits for training and education. The gallery has a reference library, meeting room, lecture space and a café.
In spite of political and logistical difficulties, Arabs in general and Palestinians in particular see their artistic and cultural activities as one of the binding forces that give Arab societies their identity at a time of fragmentation. But an awareness of the quality and variety of Arab art and culture is absent from Western society.
The P21 Gallery will provide a showcase for these activities, bringing Arab artists and their work before a British audience. London is the centre of a thriving modern and contemporary art scene and Arab artists can contribute to that scene through work, which is comparable with – and yet different from – the best contemporary artists in the UK.
