All creation sings out your praise, O God Humanity longs to celebrate your love The hills and the valleys delight to dance in your presence.
We give thanks for every breath you have given us,... For every friendship, every heartache, Every moment of laughter and happiness, And the treasured memories of sad and difficult times as well.
As we praise you this day, Almighty One, Help us to come closer to you, Enable us to experience deep within our hearts the love that you want to pour out upon us. May your precious Holy Spirit move amongst us as we worship together this day, May we be changed by what we hear and see this morning here in this place.
Strengthen us where we are weak, Weaken us where we are over-confident in our own abilities And help us to recognise all that you have given us, and provide us with. Thank you for food, for clothing, for a home, for families, for friendships. Thank you for the opportunities we have to come together as part of your worldwide church here in this place this day.
We give to you this day all that has happened this past week, The words we have spoken, the things we have done Forgive us for any wrongs we have strayed into, And equip us this day for a new week, New opportunities to speak of your love, and share your peace with the people we meet.
Creator God, create in us the willingness to follow in your footsteps, carry out the work you call us to do, So we pray together using those words that the Living Lord Jesus once spoke to his first disciples, followers of The Way:-
The Lord’s Prayer
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy Kingdom come; thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil For thine is the kingdom, the power, and the glory for ever and ever. Amen

"God of peace, keep us from confusing peace with submission in the face of injustice. Keep us from confusing patience with tolerance in the face of oppression. Grant us true discernment for the sake of your kingdom. Amen." (Common Prayer)

A speed bump coming our way at some point...

"It is okay to enjoy the fruits of our labour. What is not okay is when we imagine that our work gives us the right to live in ways that deprive others of having a beneficial life. Resisting taking work for granted in the first place is a holy task that leads to a spirit of thankfulness and a social responsibility that creates communities of mutuality and respect." (Erice Fairbrother)

"Praying is no easy matter. It demands a relationship in which you allow someone other than yourself to enter into the very centre of your person, to see there what you would rather leave in darkness, and to touch there what you would rather leave untouched." (Henri Nouwen)
