Help Save Sikh Heritage - Over the Festive season holiday make a difference by helping to restore ancient Guru Granth Sahib Ji manuscripts. One manuscript has been restored but others urgently require restoration. For enquiries, volunteering, or donations (via paypal) please email to admin@5culture.org.
The details are as follows: Sarup 1: Is an ancient sarup from 1692 AD which was copied from the original Adi Granth Sahib dictated by Guru Arjan Dev Ji to Bhai Gurdas Sahib ji.... Two folios are ripped halfway, and the binding is no longer water proof, so this needs to be changed.
Sarup 2: Is from the Taksal of Baba Dip Singh and urgently needs rebinding, it has three ripped folios, and some water damage. Sarup 3: Has had termites eat at the jacket and some of the folios, so these need to be repaired.
Sarup 4: Is lithographed or pathar chhap from around 1860s. The binding is broken, the opening folios are in hundreds of small pieces, that need to be urgently restored.
Sarup 5: Is in a British University, the binding is broken, it has lose folios, and ripped angs. This sarup is also from around the 1690s. Before and after photographs will be provided after completion.
Important restoration is going to be carried out by Grade 4 Conservators only.
One sarup has already been rebound, and restored, and another is currently being restored, which will take about another six months as the folios are ripped and very badly damaged.
