Papua New Guinea Tourism - Uk Office Description
Papua New Guinea, is located south of the equator 160 km north of Australia and is now more easily accessible from Europe via the Far East and Australasia. This fascinating country of outstanding natural beauty has a myriad of captivating experiences to offer the visitor. It’s warm equatorial climate, with an average water temperature of 25 degrees, offers the perfect environment for all aquatic activities. Also legendary as a coveted destination for the ornithologist, Papua New Guinea is home to an extraordinary total of 781 bird species, 76 of which are endemic including the marvelous “Birds of Paradise”.
A well trodden path for trekking, mountain climbing and bushwalking PNG is the ultimate destination for both the fit enthusiast and intermittent trekker.

The famous Mount Hagen Show lights up the Highlands of Papua New Guinea this weekend. It's been running for 58 years and consists of over 80 different tribes and thousands of tribesmen and women. They all dress in traditionally extravagant tribal outfits and dance and sing together, creating a spectacle that is out of this world!

August is a big month for festivals in Papua New Guinea and today marks the start of the Enga festival. The Enga province is in the Northern Highlands and is the only province that speaks a single language (there are 850 spoken throughout PNG so this is very rare).
