I'll be out on the road again for a #popupsurgery on 17th February outside McDonald's in #Sutton High Street between 11.30am and 1.30pm.
It's on a first come first serve basis for a chat on any issue you want to talk about.

In parts of #Belmont & #Cheam, Sutton Council's parking strategy is going through the latest consultation stage. 🚗
Please do make sure that you have your say on proposals that will be affecting your area before 24th February. 🚨
Also please make sure your councillors are aware of your feelings. Read more from the link below 👇

As the UK Prime Minister's Trade Envoy for #Myanmar & #Thailand, I'm this week working on economic development and trade as we lift our heads up to the global opportunities that afford our position as one of the world's major economies.
Plenty to do but we'll only succeed if we crack on with the job, pull together as a nation and retain the sense of purpose and optimism injected by Boris Johnson

Earlier on this afternoon I met with Cllr Tom Drummond and the residents of Richmond House about the ongoing issues concerning their housing association in the aftermath of the Hamptons fire.
I’ll continue to raise their concerns with the authorities including central Government.

In Sainsbury's until 1pm with Cllrs Eric Allen & Tom Drummond, do pop by if you can!

I was honoured to attend as a guest for the consecration ceremony of Navagraha Sri Kathiragaama Yogi Yogishwara Yoga Dhandayuthapaani Swami Temple, and Sharavana Baba Community Centre on Sunday with Stonecot Cllr Param Nandha.
I know the centre will play a key role in developing strong links with all faiths and communities across London.

An important announcement from GLA Conservatives today:
A different way is possible with the plan that has been set out today that will slash Sadiq Khan's waste in City Hall and #MakeLondonSafe with an additional 1598 police officers on our streets.

A very good speech from Elliot Colburn MP about the leadership failures in Sutton Council who are using their arms-length company, Cognus, to avoid blame when disabled and special needs children in Sutton are let down.
Also an honourable mention to Hayley Harding who with the Sutton EHCP Crisis - SEN Families Fight for Justice group have fought doggedly to get this issue in Sutton to the top of the political agenda.

On Friday we leave the EU. Earlier this week I joined political colleagues on a cross-party basis to discuss the Withdrawal Agreement and practical steps that business can take to prepare for the legal and commercial implications of #brexit. We focused focus on key sectors which will be affected by the changes.
London leads the world in financial services sector for example. This will still be the same on Saturday and beyond.
We still have a lot to bring to the table, and our soft power will be an important factor in managing our relationship with the EU going forward. We should be optimistic for the future of the UK, without underestimating the challenge ahead.

Lots of constituents have been contacting me about the dangerous crossing of Lumley Road and the A217.
I'm pleased to hear that Cllrs Eric Allen, Holly Ramsey and Neil Garratt met with TfL and Cheam residents yesterday at a site meeting to try and come up with a solution to the problem of the many near misses and accidents that have taken place recently and over a considerable period of time.
TfL have agreed to work up a feasibility study which is a step in the right direction and along with the councillors I'll be keen to monitor the results and recommendations.

I am delighted to hear that Cheam Common Junior Academy has been shortlisted to become an Education Technology (EdTech) Demonstrator. The schools and colleges that are successful at interview are due to be announced in the Spring.
This initiative follows on from the publication of the Government's EdTech Strategy last year to help improve and increase the effective use of technology in education.

... I wish Cheam Common Junior Academy every success at the interview stage.

It is common knowledge within London politics that the current Labour Mayor is at best indifferent about the outer London boroughs, but the statistics uncovered by the London Assembly Research Unit really do demonstrate this Mayor shortchanges Sutton.
Neil Garratt, the Conservative candidate for the Sutton & Croydon GLA seat puts it best in the below article where he says, "People sometimes think that there’s no money being invested in Sutton because there just is no money fu...ll stop, but the graph above shows that the London Mayor has Billions of Pounds to invest. He is just choosing to spend it in other places."
Sutton needs a Conservative Mayor of London who will understand Sutton's needs and deliver on them.

Some time ago I started receiving notifications on twitter at strange times of the day from another MP called Paul Scully MP...in Australia. He had been receiving messages from constituents mixing him up with me and vice versa.
So when Paul came over to London recently the natural thing to do was to meet up, swap stories of politics across hemispheres in a restaurant also called Scully St James's.
Sadly Mulder couldn't join us but The Sydney Morning Herald did, their article ...is below from Latika M Bourke. Photos courtesy of Liliana Zaharia.

Really pleased to pop down to CryerArts in #Carshalton last night to see their gala opening with Elliot Colburn MP & it’s great to see a performing arts centre back in the borough of Sutton.
A lot of work went into getting this project up and running by a set of dedicated volunteers, and there’s already a packed list of events taking place over the next few weeks so do give them your full support.

It was lovely to meet Florence today at the Oak Centre for Children and Young People in The Royal Marsden - Sutton and to try my hand creating paintings for the Year of the Rat as well as serving up some food for #ChineseNewYear
Also good to catch up with the Chief Nurse, Eamonn Sullivan to discuss a number of items including their wider site development.
In October I'll be running the Royal Parks Half Marathon-London for the Marsden, so am always very happy to support them in what they do.

This week I signed the Holocaust Educational Trust (UK) Book of Commitment. In doing so I pledged my commitment to Holocaust Memorial Day and honouring those who were murdered during the Holocaust as well as paying tribute to the extraordinary Holocaust survivors who work tirelessly to educate young people today.
As the Holocaust moves from living history, to history, it becomes ever more important that we take the time to remember the six million Jewish victims and also pay ...tribute to the survivors.
This year we are marking 75 years since the liberation of the concentration camps of Europe and the end of the Second World War. At the end of the month, on the anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz-Birkenau, people across the globe will remember.
We all have a duty to remember the Holocaust and to stand up against antisemitism and hate, now more so than ever.
