Dog groomers standing together for the NHS.
This salon is proud to be one of thousands of grooming businesses following the government and industry guidelines, closing to reduce the spread of the COVID-19 virus
These are difficult times and much as we would like to be open, we must do what we can to protect our clients and protect the NHS.
... We miss our clients and understand that they will be getting hairier, and being closed will have a huge impact on our small business but the health and safety of humans must come first! Dog grooming is not an essential service and all salons, including home salons and mobile vans have been recommended to close to limit the spread of the virus, though we are aware some are still trying to work it is not worth the risk to have your dog groomed. Frontline workers are putting their lives and their families lives at risk to keep us safe!
Please Stay at home
-Only go outside for food, health reasons or work (if you are a key worker)
-If you go out, stay 2 metres (6ft) away from other people at ALL times
-Do not meet others, even friends or family. You can spread the virus even if you don’t have symptoms.
Rest assured that we will be doing all we can once we reopen to get everyones grooms caught up. Please stay home, protect yourself protect your loved ones and protect the NHS.

Some advice on how to look after your dogs at home whilst in lockdown. Please listen to Colin, someone very high up and knowledgeable in dog grooming. We will also share some videos in the next few days, but any questions please do not hesitate to ask us. Be safe x🐶x

Ok guys, on a serious note please DO NOT attempt to groom your dogs at home. Although some people think we play with dogs all day, it is a highly skilled job. Dogs move, they lick, they sneeze, and when you're using sharp instruments it's a recipe for disaster. The home grooms have begun and we have only been closed for 3 days now. I literally can not understand how every dog in the country is suddenly desperate for a hair cut. We have had clients attempting to cut out mats ...at home and their poor pet has been sent to the emergency vet to get stitches. There is NO need. Just wait the 3, 4 or 5 weeks. Dogs can take themselves off to a cooler area if they get warm, it's not 30 degrees outside.
You’ll see lots of shops selling cheap clippers. These clippers generally do not have changeable clipper blade lengths and come with an extremely short blade (usually under 3mm) to be used with comb attachments over the top of the blade to set a longer length. These extremely short blades will absolutely scalp your dog at the best, which could lead to severe clipper rash, or are likely to cause injury if not used safely and correctly.
If you are in any doubt over your pets welfare regarding their coat, whether it be due to the length of coat, or severe matting then get in touch. Send us some photos and we can help determine if this is likely to be a welfare issue. If it is you can contact your vet to see if they can deal with this in the mean time. Vets are ONLY open for emergencies at the minute, please dont put your pet at any risk of ending up in there unnecessarily.
Just keep brushing and combing at home in the mean time. We all know you have plenty of time on your hands now to do it... so no excuses 🤣

‼️‼️please read ‼️‼️
I’ve been receiving lots of calls/messages regarding appointments. We are also aware that there is the odd groomer still open! So I just wanted to clarify with you...
Not only are we following the government regulations, but the grooming associations PIF (Pet Industry Federation) and BIGA (British Isles Grooming Association) have also released statements to say that ALL grooming businesses should now be closed (there’s no exceptions, this includes mobile... and home groomers etc).
Soooo... Whilst it may be tempting to go and get ‘Fluffy’ groomed right now if you find one who is open, we strongly urge that you please don’t. Not only is it going against the government and will be classed as a non essential trip for you, but we’ve been advised those groomers will be working with their insurance null and void.
With many of us being self employed (as some of you are too), we can understand the financial worry, but saving lives is far more important! These measures, and us being closed, is for everyone’s safety and to stop the spread of the virus.
Please, please stay at home, protect the NHS and save lives 🙏 😘😘

Hi everyone! I’m working on some video content at the moment to explain how to maintain all types of coats at home whilst all groomers (being non essential) are closed at the moment. I know it’s a big inconvenience and for most of my clients it will be difficult to keep on top of longer or very curly coats at home during this time.
I just wanted to take a moment to deter anyone thinking of taking a pair of clippers to their dogs at home if you do not know what you’re doing. ...Grooming is a VERY skilled job and every single day we work with live moving animals and razor sharp equipment ✂️✂️✂️
You’ll see lots of shops selling cheap clippers (cheap being anything under £100). These clippers generally do not have interchangeable clipper blade lengths and come with an extremely short blade (usually under 3mm) which is intended to be used with comb attachments over the top of the blade to set a longer length. These extremely short blades will absolutely scalp your dog at the best, and are likely to cause injury if not used safely and correctly. Please please please don’t be tempted to Use these cheap clippers at home especially on double coated breeds as clipping certain coat types can ruin them for life.
Below are some pictures of home grooms gone wrong, at best the clip is awful aesthetically and at worst the dog has been badly injured. Currently vets are NOT open to non emergencies so you may struggle to get treatment for your dog if the cuts are minor.
This is not to scare people but just to make you aware that our job is just not as easy as it looks. I will be posting lots of helpful information in the coming days to cater for all coat types. I cannot fix these types of grooms pictured below without taking your dog as short as possible right down to the skin to even things up so please be aware of that as well.
Keep safe, enjoy your furry babies and I’ll be here to help and “fix” any issues when we open back up. The most high risk coats from matting up are curly coats and combination coats (ie all poodle cross breeds). If anyone had any specific questions please post them below so I can cater to everyone’s needs if possible 🐾❤️🐾

It is with a very heavy heart and a lot of tears that we must announce the temporary closure of our salon 💔
Anyone who has appointments, please bear with us. When we're given the green light to reopen, you'll be top of the list and we'll be working around the clock to accommodate you.
Deposits will be transferred to new appointments and we will be contactable by phone or Facebook.
... In the meantime, don’t forget to groom your pets at home, clean their eyes and make sure their bottoms are kept clean and dry. Brush them thoroughly at least twice a week but ideally every other day, wash their paws after going for a walk, and wipe them all over with an animal friendly wipes from time to time to keep them fresh.
We shall be staying in touch with you, with more advice on how to care for your pets coat etc at home whilst we can't help you with our service.
It's goodbye from us for now, but don't worry, it's only temporary!! 😭💓
Give your doggie's a big hug from us. Keep safe, keep in contact, & keep your distance. I shall miss you all very much😪

We apologise for the salon being closed today. We aren't isolating, but instead in a studio filming an advert for a well known company with one of my dogs. We will be back tomorrow, business as usual 🐶

Rules during CoronaVirus times‼
Pawfect Style will be, for the time being and until otherwise instructed, open as usual. In an effort to prevent possible transmission of Coronavirus (Covid19) to you and to protect the staff here from infection, we have set the following safety measures:
* If you or anyone in your household has travelled to the hotspots or have cold/flu like symptoms please reschedule your appointment.
... * Please ring us or buzz the bell on arrival, and we will come out to you. Then you will take your dogs collar & lead off and put your dog in our garden area (after the pvc fencing), where we will collect them. We will call you when they're ready, as per usual, and we will follow the same procedure to give them back.
* Please take your dog's lead and collar/harness with you.
* We are going to try and limit the amount of time spent with customers and keep adequate distance to again reduce the risks, and are considering wearing masks to add to the protective measures. Please don't be offended.
* If you find it necessary to come in, Hand sanitizer and antibacterial wipes have been placed on the desk, please clean your hands on arrival, and then wipe down any surfaces that you might have touched (specially door handles, gates)
* We are restricting entry to the salon to one person at a time. If you see that someone is at the counter, we would ask you to stay outside until we have finished dealing with that customer.
* We will be cleaning surfaces at every opportunity to prevent cross contamination and ask that you take every measure to help us with this.
* On collection, payment by Bank transfer or PayPal are preferred ways of payment at this time, to minimise the requirement for cash (as this carries a lot of risk).
* If you would like to bring your appointment forward please contact us asap, as things are meant to get worse in the next few weeks and you wouldn't want your dogs being overdue.
🐾 Cancellation fees don't apply if: - If you have to self isolate we completely understand, just let us know
🐾 No show fees still apply: - If you can’t make your appointment there is no reason not to send us a message and let us know.
We understand that this is extreme but your pets welfare is our main concern and so the longer we can stay healthy, the longer we can care for your dogs skin and coat. In the meantime please stay safe and keep supporting our small business, as things are going to get very tough for the self employed😔 so please do whatever you can to keep coming, and I will do whatever I can to keep serving you and your dogs.
Many thanks, Ruth @ Pawfect Style dog grooming

CORONAVIRUS PROCEDURE
We wanted to let you all know that as a team we are taking this nasty virus very seriously. We are following government guidelines closely and have introduced the following measures:
* Upon arrival, we would prefer it if you could ring us to let us know that you're outside, and one of us will come to you. Otherwise there's a bell, ring it and we will come out to you.... * if you find it necessary to come in, Hand sanitizer and antibacterial wipes have been placed on the desk, please clean your hands and then wipe down any surfaces that you might have touched (specially door handles , gates) * If you are in a vulnerable category be aware that a hoop has been put up on the wall outside (between the two gates). Please use this to secure your dog and then call us to let us know your requirements. * Please take your dog's lead and collar with you, we will use one of ours to bring the dogs in/out. * Payment by Bank transfer or PayPal are preferred ways of payment at this time, to minimise the requirement for cash (as this carries a lot of risk). * We will be cleaning surfaces at every opportunity to prevent cross contamination and ask that you take every measure to help us with this. * When your dogs come into the salon we will whisk them away promptly and put them straight in the bath and hand them back to you once finished with minimal contact. * We are going to try and limit the amount of time spent with customers and keep adequate distance to again reduce the risks, and are considering wearing masks to add to the protective measures.
NB - If you have travelled to the hotspots or have cold/flu like symptoms please reschedule your appointment.
Please don’t feel offended with this approach. We aren't adding to the panic, but avoiding spreading the virus that might end up affecting vulnerable people and/or ourselves. As a small business it would affect us immensely if we had to close down! We are very sorry for the inconvenience of this all, hopefully things will start to calm down very quickly. In the meantime please stay safe and keep supporting our small business, as things are going to get very tough for the self employed 😔
