We're thinking of doing t-shirts for sale again at Pells for next season. We've had a variety of designs over the years.
It would be great to have suggestions of what our next design might be. What would be popular with pool goers?
... We have a designer - but would really welcome ideas and suggestions for what should be featured.

Public exhibition about proposals for landscaping and appearance of new North Street Quarter development that would neighbour Pells Pool on Monday 29 October, 3pm-8pm, in St Johns sub Castro (church on hill above Pells).

Do you have good advice on local sea swimming? Other ideas for outdoor swimming in autumn and winter? We’re keen to hear them. With the Pells season over, we want to share tips and advice on outdoor swimming locally for swimmers who’ve got used to regular cold-water swimming and might be missing it and wanting to continue. We’ll share all ideas on our webpages and in a consolidated post here. Thanks!

Lovely to welcome along some of our regular swimmers in this last hour of the last day. Phil says especial thanks for the gifts! It’s been a pleasure to be here for the whole community of swimmers and pool goers who come from near and far to enjoy this amazing place. Thanks for all your support and good cheer throughout the year. A remarkable year. Thanks to Phil, Patrick and all the brilliant lifeguarding team and to the volunteers and friends and committee members who have helped out in the kiosk and behind the scenes. We’ll be here closing things down for the next few weeks so you can give us a wave if you’re passing by as we put everything to bed for the winter. Thanks folks!

Noon update: after yesterday's amazing weather, the water temp has gone UP! It's now 16.5C .... no excuses now :)

‪A remarkable October day, and sunshine for the last hour of swimming on the penultimate day of our autumn season ... a good few dozen folks enjoying the peace. Open for final day tomorrow (Sunday) noon-6pm

Water temp today a bracing 13.5C - open until 6pm

Water temp 14C ... our advice on cold water swims at Pells: - if you have a wetsuit do wear it - if not and you are acclimatised to cold water it’s fine - if not and you are not used to this cold (eg sea swimming or regular at Pells) don’t stay in for more than 20 mins Enjoy!

Still beautiful as we approach the last weekend of September. Open every day through to 14 October

If you fancy a walk round Devil's Dyke on Sunday - Life Green Events who run swim training at the Pells are putting this on for National Get Outside Day!

Pics from yesterday's charity swim at the Pells are now up on our Flickr pages - huge congrats to everyone who took part in 2K or 5K swims, and too all family, friends and supporters who came to cheer them on. Please feel free to download and share the pics. We're in discussion with NSPCC about an event next year, so we can continue to run an annual swim for charity.

Great to welcome the Mid Sussex Marlins swim club down at 8am to kick off our Pells All In Swim charity day. Next up at noon our 2K swimmers. Then 2pm our 5K swimmers. Open only for charity swim today - but come down and cheer folks on!

Beautiful sunset over the pool last night - hope that means nice day for our charity swim today. Pool open for charity swim only - but do pop in and say hello and support our swimmers! Mid Sussex Marlins at 8am. 2K swimmers at noon. 5k swimmers at 2pm.

Wonderful pool and wonderful staff. Well done too for keeping everyone safe with a sensible heatwave policy. £11 for a family for 3-4 hours is incredibly good value.

What a beautiful pool, all areas clean, we had a fantastic day

What a beautiful place! All the lifeguards were very attentive and helpful. On such a hot day I'd especially like to thank the senior member of staff on the gate, whilst queuing he made us all feel very welcome and relaxed. This was especially hard as he had a couple of quite abrasive people to deal with but he didn't let that affect his cheery nature. I must admit that when I first saw him tall and tattooed, I didn't expect such a kind character.

Well run pool with rules in place which means it doesn’t get rowdy . Lovely lanes section for doing serious laps

We had a lovely day out here, just like being on holiday! Lovely pool and grass area to dry off and picnic, all very clean. We came on the bus from Brighton, easy walk from the high street. Will definatly visit again .

Polls Pool is a great place - the staff are friendly and efficient and the pool itself is a wonderful place to swim. I totally understand why the Heatwave policy had to be implemented - partly to give staff a break and time to clean the pool which becomes very murky on a hot day, but also to allow more people to be able to use it. It's not a big deal and the heatwave won't last forever. Let's celebrate this fantastic community resource!

Pells pool the best pool! Such a wonderful place to spend time at and meet friends. Feel so lucky to have it so close to our house! And filter coffee now too! Thanks Phil for doing such an amazing job!

No idea why anyone would complaain about this gorgeous luxury we have in Lewes.

My 3 kids and I are going 2/3 times a week !!! They ABSOLUTELY love it !!!! So relaxing, chilled and peaceful Family season ticket for us next year !!!! Thanks for all your hard work and the stuff you are kind enough to do !

Love, love , love it in every way - the water is divine, there's a lovely warm shower, a sun trap in the changing room and last but not least, a great cup of tea to finish !

Love it here, hidden away in a leafy corner of Lewes, the water is clean and fresh, the staff are friendly and helpful and the times are very accommodating.

Fabulous place with recent upgrades to the small pool. Place is lovely clean and tidy. Very good value for money and stays open till 7pm, refreshments are very reasonably priced too.

Come here every year at any given opportunity :-) Staff are lovely and extremely helpful. Would highly recommend for a lovely relaxing day out.

Kerien deserves a big shout out for being an extremely helpful individual, after realising I'd left all my change for parking at home and only brung my card. He offered me his own money to pay for my car parking ticket! Totally saved the day with a 3 year old waiting to get into the pool! Nice to know there are still some helpful and genuinely lovely people in the world.

Came here for the first time today we loved it such a relaxed atmosphere, staff were lovely lifeguards were great. Thank you so much we had a great day.

Bewl Canoe Club hired pool in the evening, we brought along all our own equipment and two bbqs. Brilliant evening, lovely setting, good water temperature and gave us all a chance to practice those tricky things which are less fun doing in a reservoir, river, open water! Thank you Phil, we shall definitely be back next year!

Awesome and friendly Local Lido!

Love this place!

Perfect for long distance swimming and such a lovely atmosphere as well. Some of the staff are very knowledgeable about outdoor and lido swimming.

A lovely big, clean and friendly pool and with a 46m length it is the perfect place to train. Unlike other pools treated with chlorine my eyes aren't stinging and I haven't sneezed once which is a bonus! Pells Pool is a 'swimming gem' in Lewes.

A bit cold sometimes but other than that this is a lovely outdoor pool. There are outdoor changing facilities, toilets, a toddler pool and a grass area to sit on. The front desk serves a limited selection of food and drink which is handy.



Only issue is you have to pay an entry fee even if you're not swimming. Could do with a bit more seating.



Prices are reasonable.

The pool itself is lovely but their new heatwave policy is a little odd. In normal circumstances it's £11 for a family to stay all day. When the heatwave policy is in place, the day is split into 2 sessions, the price is still £11 but you are not allowed back in for the second session without paying another £11!! Hence the 3 stars.
