About Pendleside Hospice
Pendleside exists to promote and enhance quality of life for people with life-limiting illnesses, their families and carers.
Pendleside Hospice Description
Local people commenced fundraising in October 1988 to provide hospice care for Burnley and Pendle people diagnosed with cancer and other life limiting-illnesses. Our first service, a telephone helpline, was provided from a small office in the old Marsden Hospital. A day care service soon followed and we were allocated space at Pendle Community Hospital, whilst fundraising continued to build the Hospice, which opened in 1997. Since then, many thousands of local people have benefitted from our specialist palliative and end-of-life services. We now offer day therapy, specialist physiotherapy, complementary therapies, inpatient care, 24 /7 hospice at home, counselling, bereavement support and spiritual care. Pendleside was built “by the people and for the people of Burnley and Pendle”; a statement that remains true today. Our vital services are only possible because of the outstanding charitable support of local people, who have given generously to Pendleside over many years. Without that support, the Hospice wouldn't be able to provide care that is relied upon by so many local families at very difficult times in their lives.

Betty is cared for by her husband Barry, who brings her to Pendleside’s day services. He described the hospice as “an oasis of care and support” 💚

Day Services Unit Occupational Therapist
... 37.5 Hours per week – 5 days (Monday to Friday) Part time considered
Due to a service reorganisation, we have an exciting opportunity for an experienced and registered Occupational Therapist to join us working as part of a multidisciplinary team.
This 37.5 hours/week permanent position will work flexibly as part of Pendleside’s Rehabilitation Team, across Days Services, 10 bedded In-patient unit as well as in the community, therefore flexibility will be essential to apply your skills within a variety of clinical settings. Positive and enthusiastic, you will have the communication and interpersonal skills that enable you to thrive in a friendly working environment.

Pendle Pub Walk walker's... Did you notice the brand new Pub Walk signs on your way round on Saturday?
The Rotary Club Of Burnley Pendleside have gained permission for these signs to remain in place permanently meaning that anyone can enjoy the route throughout the year 🙌 (Thankfully the team had a sunny day when putting them up... unlike the Pub Walk day!)
