Pistachios In The Park- Hilly Fields, Brockley

When plans were announced to build on Hilly Fields many years ago, Octavia Hill, one of the three founders of the National Trust, was instrumental in helping local people raise funds in order to preserve the land as a park. As a direct result of the campaign, the land was purchased by London County Council and on 16th May 1896 Hilly Fields was dedicated to the public.

Today the park has something for everyone: a children’s playground, enclosed picnic area, cricket pitch, three tennis courts; a basketball court; a dog exercise area, a football pitch; the bowling club; a stone circle, a monthly farmers market and regular park runs. Plus standing 175 feet above sea level, Hilly Fields commands great views over Lewisham and the City of London.
