We have just had to most incredible Valentine's meal with spectacular service! I always love visiting Pitcher and Piano and couldn't recommend it highly enough! Already excited for our next visit! We were served by Kieran who was so friendly and attentive!

User

This place is brill, the food is fresh and tasty. We went in for coffee and ended up having cocktails!! Kieran made the cocktails, a skilled barman if ever I saw one. Our waitress was holly, a lovely girl who had the kitchen alter our food order as I have allergies. She couldn't do enough for us. Can't wait to go again. See you soon.

User

The food was amazing the service could do with some guidance, overall a very nice establishment I’ll be coming back to

User

We’ve visited the P&P on a couple of occasions now and have been impressed. On Sunday we visited and decided to have their roast dinner option. I have to say it was very good and we were all very satisfied after the meal. It was great value for money, a sizeable portion and the children’s version was brilliant at half the adult version (in size and price).

The staff are attentive whilst not over the top, it’s a lovely venue and that adds to the experience. There is a good range of cold and hot drinks and the menu covers all bases. The food is served hot and well presented.

Ordinarily we wouldn’t really go out for a roast, as we find it a disappointment and feel we can do better at home however this was a pleasant surprise and we will be returning again soon. I said to the staff that I’d be reviewing with positive feedback and here it is.

For people who haven’t eaten at P&P, they should get there soon - it’s nice to not eat an Italian in Hitchin.

User

We had 2 latte's and two of the starters, pork skewers and grilled halloumi, all of it was extremely nice. However £8 for the two starters was in our mind a little expensive, we each had 3 small slices.

User

Was lovely, just avoid the steak- poor meat and turned up well done when asked for medium rare and the mushrooms were cremated so inedible. Would have appreciated a gesture of good will for having issue but the waitress was lovely so didn't kick up a fuss. Great cocktails though

User

Friendly, efficient service. Food hot, tasty and plentiful. Decor very Christmassy and table decorations were great. Definitely return again for meal/drinks. Keep up the good work ladies & gentlemen

User

Slow service at bar, due to lack of staff, and cocktails take a while to make so long time waiting at bar. Ladies toilet out of action so had to use 1 disabled toilet .

User

Nice venue and the food was good but in terms of drinks, a few people asked for tea after the meal. This wasn't possible due to there being no milk!! Black tea wasn't offered even as an option and they weren't able to go and buy some milk or something.

User

Me and my friend went here for lunch yesterday. The food was OK but the service was shocking...we waited at the bar to be served 3 people were around....we had to ask if we get served at the bar or if we should take a seat...they served us we then weren't sure if we had to wait for our drinks....we sat down for about 10 mins or so before our drinks were brought over...we could see them sitting at the end of the bar tempted to get them ourselves....we ordered a sarnie and salad waited probably 20/25minutes to be served....the food quality was OK but wouldn't be in a rush to go back to eat :-( disappointing

User

I love coming here with my little girl because it is spacious and not packed out in the day time. The food is nice and reasonably priced.

BUT, it would be so much nicer if they had a few more highchairs and an access ramp. Also the disabled toilets/ changing facilities are often pretty grim. The whole place could use a deep clean.

User

Although the food is fine here the service really lets the place down, in various visits we have had staff shortages, missing food and general slow service. I was hoping that after the refurb things would have changed but sadly not, the usual slow service plus burnt chicken and cold chips. Disappointing!

User

Unfortunately the service was poor-the waiting staff weren’t attentive so we had to keep going up to the bar to buy drinks/order food and pay but on the ‘up’ side the food was lovely.

User

Service was slow- took ages to be served at the bar. Food was mediocre - Chicken Caesar Salad was a plate of gem lettuce with 5 strips of cold chicken and a cold soft boiled egg. Very uninspiring. Other people in the group had hit food served cold. Won't be rushing back

User

Poor service, although one young man did his best to help. Very slow service, order taken wrongly, poor red wine, dirty glasses, forgot one person's food. Cold food in some cases, mostly just okay food. Good chicken and chips. None of us will be returning. A shame as this could be a good venue.

User

A few of us have been here before and it was lovely, however, not this time. A pre-booked table for 12 people, a family get together for Christmas left us with only half the menu to choose from having ran out of most dishes, which then arrived overcooked and half missing as they forgot to tell us they had ran out of the sauces that accompanied them! Slow service and lack of staff (note that it wasn't busy at all). We waited a while for our dessert orders to be taken, only to be told the kitchen had closed. I don't think we'll be going back, or at least any time soon.

User

Second time we've been there for lunch .( not counting when we went and they said there was a 1hour delay on food .We left !) Each time ordered steak baguette with Cropwell Bishop stilton cheese . No cheese present either time . Coffee seemed to be drawn from the drains . Steer clear . Took 15 mins to pay as the machine was on the blink.

User

Really bad experience!!! Shocking in fact!!!! My husband's main course was ok, when I saw my main course, Jerky marinated chicken, I was shocked by the size of it and it was smaller than my son's meal, the salad looked as if it was 2-3 days old definitely not fresh for sure. We eat out a lot and never felt the need to complain, unfortunately we had to point out how disappointed with our meal tonight. The staff handled it well and offered to replace my order but we didn't see the point of it, their response was that the measure were dictated by the HO. I am still hungry and felt rather annoyed that they ruined my evening.

User

I went with two friends who I haven't seen in a while ...We wanted somewhere to eat and I had heard good things about it. How wrong was I?

I know it was Saturday night and people are out for a good time. .but the music was uncomfortably loud. The waiting staff nowhere to be seen for ages....food took so long to arrive we almost left. Still nobody came to take drink orders ...eventually we asked for the bill..waited 20 mins to be told she'd forgotten it! The food was average. Never again.
